Soulmates were a very popular thing in the world they lived in. They were basically just as popular as quirks. Almost everyone was born with a tattoo on their arm that indicated what they’ll think when they first meet their soulmate.
Izuku Midoriya was one of the few that did not have a soulmate tattoo. He was not only born without a quirk, but he was also born without a soulmate. He went through middle school watching groups of girls squeal in delight when they spoke about soulmates, and groups of students brag about their quirks. Izuku was fine with that though, for he knew there was someone out there for him.
He was proved right when he met Shouto Todoroki.
The two had danced around each other for months until Izuku’s friends got tired of seeing their pining. Eventually, Uraraka and Yaoyorozu set them up and things continued from there.
They stayed together even after high school. Trying to find the balance between hero work and time off was a bit difficult at first, but they eventually got the hang out it. Izuku loved being able to spend every day with Shouto. If he did have a tattoo linking him to his soulmate, he was almost certain it’d be Shouto.

Izuku looked around nervously as he and Shouto crossed the street. He felt Shouto grab his hand and hold it gently, giving him a small reassuring smile when he looked over at him. “What are you afraid of, Izu?” Shouto asked. “It’s just a needle. We’ve faced way worse.” He joked.
Izuku gave a little smile. It was true. They faced the League of Villains and people way worse than some needle. “Thanks Shou.” He said and Shouto nodded. They continued their walk until they got to a small tattoo shop. Shouto took the lead as he opened the door, Izuku following behind them.
“Ah, hello!” A man said, grinning at the two. “You’re the two o’clock appointment!” He exclaimed and Izuku nodded. “Do you know what you want tattooed?” The two heroes nodded and pulled out pieces of paper. With that, the process began.
-
It took a couple of days before Izuku and Shouto were able to take off the bandages. They sat on the couch, side by side. Izuku looked at Shouto, strangely feeling nervous. “Y-You first…” He murmured. Shouto nodded, removing the bandages. Izuku broke out into giggles when he saw what was tattooed on Shouto’s arm.
‘All Might’s secret love child.’
Shouto made a face which made Izuku laugh more. “I can’t believe that was the first thing you thought!” He teased.
“Well what did you first think?” Shouto asked. Izuku stopped laughing and he removed his bandages, blushing.
Written on his arm was, ‘I want to help him.’ With the utmost gentleness, Shouto held Izuku’s arm. The longer Shouto inspected it, the redder Izuku’s face became. Suddenly, Shouto cupped Izuku’s face in his hands and kissed him. When they pulled apart, he rested his forehead against Izuku’s.
“I love you.” He said and Izuku’s heart swelled.
“I love you too.” He replied with a smile. “But um...are you sure you’re really okay with having ‘All Might’s secret love child written on your arm?’” He asked. Shouto frowned.
“Our soulmate tattoos are what we first think when we see them right? So I’m more than okay with it.” Izuku kissed him again, feeling so, so much love for Shouto.
