Rabies! arrived today and I love him so much
More things that I learned from Rabid:
Danny Boyle says that he used rabies as the inspiration for the zombies in 28 Days Later: the infected turn into something driven by primal rage, but are conscious enough to be terrified even while they attack. I didn't pick up on that in the 28 Days Later zombies at all, but that sounds awesome.
The Twilight vampires are completely in keeping with the vampire as aristocrat trope that has been around forever. How did I not realize that?
I learned why that trope exists
All the signs of vampirism that people found in re-opened coffins are actually truly sick natural results of decomposition. I knew about the hair and nails appearing to grow, but nails and skin falling off and blood coming from the orifices and the sound (?!?) of corpse bloating is some brand new information to me.
Rabies, man. Rabies is some real shit.
But the modern vaccine is just four shots in the arm, so we're pretty okay now.
