Random Running Man Race Idea:

Have we ever had a race based on Korean folktales/myths? I was just watching The Return of Superman, and while Ilkook was reading “The Sun and the Moon” to the kids, I thought, “Man, this would be such a cool theme to watch!”

Bonus points if Jihyo and Kwangsoo are assigned as the siblings who later become the sun and the moon. Then maybe Jongkook is the tiger chasing after them? Or maybe HaHa? And someone could be the parent, too. Like, the only way Jihyo and Kwangsoo can be eliminated is if the tiger finds the parent and eliminate them first

Reading Volo’s Guide to Monsters again, and I just had a thought.

1. In 5e lore (I’m not sure about other editions), tabaxi value knowledge A LOT, and most have an “obsession”, which is basically like a special interest except it changes way more often.

2. So. Headcanon that tabaxi are very accepting of and really like hanging around with autistic people, and will happily listen to them infodump about whatever.

3. Further headcanon that autistic tabaxi exist. In fact, there are autistic people of all races, and while cultural attitudes towards them vary, almost all are accepted and loved.

Running Man Race Ideas:

• Manhwa Race >> it’s been YEARS since the Manhwa Race, and there are tons of new works now that the cast can pick from. I would personally love to see Kwangsoo as Choseok again. If they do this, it’d be great to have Park Boyoung as guest like they did the first time.

• Running Avengers, Part 2 >> bruh, we needed a part two! And now that Jaesuk’s put it out there again, we definitely could use a revival of it. Plus, Sechan and Somin never got a chance to take part of really fun thematic races like this one. Let the babies take part!

• {Insert K-Drama parody Here} Race >> it’s one of those types of races that the cast always complained about but end up enjoying. These episodes also frequently turned into some of the most memorable races in the history of the show. When Cho PD and Myuk PD left, these gems vanished too. We need them back. They always included plot twists that are so cool and intriguing that it keeps viewers (at least the international viewers + some k-viewers) on the edge of their seats.

• Spy Races >> We recently had it (the (Fake) Grandparents Race), and I’ll tell you what: I remember that race and watched it more times than I watched any of the recent episodes (and by recent, I mean, AT THE VERY LEAST, Episodes 350-450). Most of the cast members shine at this. Don’t see why they shouldn’t have a hand at it more often than they do now.

• Solve the Mystery Races >> I think part of the reason why the most recent episodes don’t stand out is because they’re not mentally stimulating. I get that TV should be relaxing, but that doesn’t mean it should be stagnant and boring. Case in point—and yes, this is super biased: Netflix’s Busted. That show is utterly hilarious, always a joy to watch, and it’s anything but boring. It shows that funny can coexist with thrilling.

Running Man had these a couple of years ago. An example is the Teardrop of the Sun Case Race. The Rage Virus was an absolute legend in that area too. Recently they had the Yoo-ames Bond episode, and that was absolutely great. If we can have more of that, that would be amazing.

• School Days Race >> Please do this type again! It was always great to see Jihyo unnie and the boys in school outfits. Yes, I know they did this around the first few months Sechan and Somin joined the cast, buuuut that wasn’t fun (sorry). I nominate PD Lim to handle these kinds of races (ALL of these types, tbh, because dude knows what he’s doing). It’d be awesome.

• Sageuk Races >> The cast in hanboks are always to die for. They look so beautiful/handsome in them! But it would be cool if there’s a story behind them wearing the traditional clothing, kind of like when they did the Scarlet Heart-themed race. And the Babo Ondal Race.

Does anyone have homebrew rules on how to play half-dragons? I just read the Monster Manual and saw 1) that half-dragons were a thing and 2) the rules on how to make a half-dragon NPC, but I’m not sure about how you would make a half-dragon player character.

Okay, that post I just reblogged . . . I’m cool with that interpretation of gnolls BUT it’s certainly not the only possible one and because I have a soft spot for characters of “monstrous” races who actually aren’t that bad, let me just tell y’all about a character in my group’s campaign. 

So in our campaign, gnolls are pretty explicitly NOT always evil. Yenoghu or however you spell his name is not a thing. And for most of the first arc of our campaign, we had a gnoll player character in our party named Ubesh. Now Ubesh was a lawful neutral paladin in the Oath of Redemption, and well, kind of a dumbass.

He addressed literally every NPC, no matter how hostile, as “good friend” or “my good man”.

He once tried to ask a zombie whose jaw had fallen off for directions.

He fought with a net because the goddess he served, a goddess of trade and wealth named Haggel, would not allow him to kill anyone.

He spent at least half of every boss fight trying to befriend whatever was trying to kill us. 

Which actually worked once! Very early on in the campaign before my character joined, he befriended a demon lord named Eobard, who was to become the main quest-giver for our campaign.

In exchange, Ubesh had to agree to have tea with him every so often. (Which of course provided the DM with an excuse to use whenever his player couldn’t make it to a session: “Where’s Ubesh?” “Oh, he’s having tea with that demon again.”)

He bought another player character a chicken for like five gold or so? Like I said, dumbass. And the other character didn’t even /want/ the chicken!

Ubesh’s agreement to have tea with Eobard proved to be his downfall. Eobard eventually drugged his tea and tricked him into becoming his business partner. And part demon, apparently.

He now helps Eobard -- who is now a demon king, btw -- run hell. It’s a somewhat shady pastime, but he justifies it by saying that running hell like a business is still /technically/ honoring his goddess.

And this guy was my first exposure to gnolls ever. So you can imagine my surprise when I first picked up Volo’s Guide to Monsters and the section on gnolls was all “HUR DUR GNOLLS ARE EVIL BLOODTHIRSTY KILLERS!!” and I just *glances back at the one gnoll character I’ve ever been in a game with, who did eventually turn evil but literally only because he was roofied into it* *snickers*

Swamp/Bog People

Heleiocyth

Type of terrain a cross between a bog and a swamp, where the land is acidic and dangerous to non-native species, but full of trees and other types of vegetation.

Dark green skin, with hues of black. Apparent scales around the shoulders, elbows, knees, and mouth. Non-apparent scales everywhere else.

Webbed fingers and toes, webish ears. Black eyes from the iris to the pupil. White sclera. Teeth as sharp, if not then sharper than a crocs. Hair black with a greenish hue. Typically kept long. Often has some type of debris trapped inside.

Lives in huts on the swamp/bog/whatever. Huts are raised just above the water, on stilts similar to chicken legs.

They are closely related to another species called the Krokollovian that resembles a humanoid crocodile. They both evolved from the same species.

Compared to the Krokollovian, they are small.

A new planet, unknown all-around world aesthetic. Star system? Undecided.

Probably unfriendly. Playable? Yes.
