A guest on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 said that black people were over-represented in Brazilian slums and prisons. He explained this by claiming that Brazil was deeply racist, despite its stated policy of being non-racist towards black people. Brazil even discriminates against white people.

This is one of the costs of not accepting that sub-Saharan Africans have average IQ’s of around 70, while Europeans and East Asians have average IQ’s of around 100 and 105 respectively.

Being black in Brazil is a good indication of sub-Saharan ancestry, and hence, on average, of low IQ. With a low IQ, you are much more lkely to end up in or not escape from a slum or to find yourself in prison. No racism is needed to explain the current situation.

I have to read this book called "Who's Black?" for my human variation class & there's this chapter on something called the "One Drop Rule". The US census counts black people as "all persons with any known black ancestry" so you could be 1/62 black and you would still be counted as black. It's not based on any science but "rather the one accepted by the general public and by the courts". And this is a unique principle in the fact that it's only in the US and it's only for black people. No other race is counted like this. That says something.. I'm proud of my heritage & coming from a racially diverse background. But I always claimed black as my ethnicity despite being half white. One because my father had passed away when I was young so I never could identify with him and being half Jewish and white. Which I do regret because I feel like I have a whole half of myself that I don't know. But at the same time, I believe I would claim black as my ethnicity even if I did have the chance to know my father. And claim it proudly. I love being black. I love & admire the strength & beauty of my people and I'm lucky to be a part of such a vibrant community. So on some level I guess I'm happy to find out the US sees me as black because it reinforces the identity I've always had but at the same time I think it speaks volumes at how this country holds black people in contempt so much that even if your 3/32 black|29/32 white with blonde hair and blue eyes and have lived your entire life as a white person you'll be counted as black by the state (Phipps V. State of Louisiana). And no other race has this one drop rule. Idk just some food 4 thought. What do you think?
