It is too fucking hot to expect me to walk around for 6+ hours with a half hour break.
Been off work for two days, and been feeling a little guilty about it cos like its just a cold, granted a nasty one.
My supervisor just phoned me up about something unrelated (no one had told her I was off sick) and she was all ‘Oh you don’t sound well love. Its going to get very cold this the end of this week, if you don’t feel up to it tomorrow, that’s fine.” And essentially told me I should just take the rest of the week off, because its going to get very cold and that’s apparently the last thing I need.
I mean, I’m not gonna if I feel better, I may dislike my work but I’m still conscientious about it...but still it was nice to know she’s good with me being off when we’re less than a fortnight into the new year.
Went to a job today. The fairly elderly lady let me in with the greeting. “I’m sorry, I’m stark naked”
So that was interesting. Aparrently her carer didn’t come in till 10 o clock on the most days.
Luckily the flat was designed in a way that meant I could successfully read her leccy meter without ever actually looking at her.
Our work trousers are designed to dry off pretty quickly. Only, for this to happen, it has to stop fucking raining. I am absolutely soaked and I still have three hours left. And I've been sat in the car with the heater on for the last 20 mins and I'm still soaked. Fuck this shit I need a new job
The problem I have is that my raincoat is now somehow just as wet inside as it is outside. Which has made my fleece wet. I'm going to have to wear the huge florescent monster coat that I hate with a passion.
It's pissing down and I'm working an hour away today on an 11-7 shift. The only thing making that bearable is new Lewis tonight.
So the minimum wage is going up to the living wage of £7.20 next year. But only if you are over 25. I'll still be 23 when this comes into effect. Maybe 24. It remains to be seen whether the company raises my wages with everyone else's or not.
Everyone keeps telling me that this job will be shit in the winter. But like, have they tried walking around for 8 hours in this heat with a dark blue uniform?
