I think my biggest thing with tftgs is actually just the writing style/prose, plain and simple. the humor is just right. the rhythm is good. it's just classic story telling. it makes for an engaging picture and evokes all the appropriate feelings and reactions. and I love his stupid similes. in particular today I found myself appreciating the way he describes facial expressions using those dumbass similes instead of just boring ol adjectives. saying "made a face like he'd just [experienced something utterly perplexing and/or ridiculous]" is. way more fun and evocative than "he looked shocked". it Could be clunky but he always does it right. it's always FRESH
second is the characters. charactery characters who are also all real people aside from the fact that they're not literally real people. so many dimensions to anyone who gets more than a few lines. to bring that level of realness into a story that is So Not. it's just so much fucking fun!! and they're all LIKEABLE
