I came to ask where the expanse is available to watch cuz all your posts have spiked my curiosity and then ended up getting distracted by ivar god help me now I'm in a hole. Anyway... is the expanse available to watch anywhere? XD

I was hoping I might end up drawing some fans over!!! In the US The Expanse season 1 is on Amazon Prime, and season 2 episodes are streaming on SyFy’s website. For most countries outside the US season 1 is on Netflix, and season 2 will get dumped there all at once in May 2017.

The show is based on an amazing book series of the same title. The author (actually a team of two guys under one pen name) is James S.A. Corey and the title of the first in the series is Leviathan Wakes. Season 1 of the show covers the first two-thirds of that book, and right now season 2 is finishing out that story. Part of the second book has already started in season one of the show as well, so there will probably be increasing overlaps, and we don’t really know how far season two is going to get. A lot of people start tearing through the books as soon as they realize they like the show.

Hope it’s available in your area!  If not try the books!! All the characters are refreshing non-stereotypes and turn out to have amazing depth as you keep reading. i have never been more sucked into anything as I have this series. Highly highly recommend.

I just finished reading Laura Stone's (aka stoney321's) The Bones of You, and by "finished," I mean that I read the entire novel in just under five hours. 

This was not intentional. I was planning on using her book as my "social breathing room" book while visiting my husband's family. Any time I needed a little space, I would hide away with a chapter and look just busy enough not to be bothered. As it turns out, I became an anti-social lump of readerly inertia in the middle of the living room. 

It was wonderful. 

There are many things that I could celebrate about this story, but I'll focus on just two.

1. God is in the details. 

I was about 65 pages into the nearly 400 page novel when I knew that it had me. I was already engaged in the basic plot: boy loves boy, boy loses boy, years later boy has opportunity to reconnect with boy. However, the moment when Oliver sees his old flame, Seth, on Broadway sealed the deal. Seth's play, about Shakespeare's presumed lover, managed to be original to the novel, true to the themes of the developing love story, and utterly believable all at the same time. A great love story is all well and good, but I won't care unless you can create a believable world for them to live in.

2. Emotional heft

Within the Oliver/Seth relationship, I loved the fact that decisions (romantic and practical) were given their proper weight. When characters had to choose between route A and route B, the choices never felt facile or emotionally simple. I could see how their decisions would ripple out to impact the rest of their lives and the lives of those they loved. In other words, these characters are never in a vacuum. They are living and breathing beings who, like their readers, cannot drop everything for love, however much we might want them too. 

Like us, they have to fight for love, and that makes it all the more deserving of celebration.
