I woke-up on an overcast May morning to find a note stuck on my cottage door. It read “Follow the pebbles”. I threw on a bathing suit and boots and walked a half a mile where I found a pink ribbon on a worn wooden door and a post-it that said “Enter”. I opened it precariously half expecting something to jump out. But instead I was greeted with a tropical oasis. I was in the backyard of the most exquisite house built into the canyon encased with tropical plants and flowering trees. I spotted a small white dog. She ran to me. And it was then that I saw him. The face that was plastered on every summer romance novel I had devoured as a teenager. He was stunning. But more importantly, had kind eyes. He motioned me to sit at a table and poured me a crystal glass of lemonade. I sipped the cool sweet drink as it partially quenched my growing desire. Was it my chance to live out a novel I knew all to well? Would it be the summer I would always remember? Only time would tell...
