LEMME TELL YOU ABOUT BURNOUTS - I've worked in the animation industry for 6 years. The pressure on artists to be on point 24/7 is RIDICULOUS. 3 weeks IS NOT ENOUGH TIME. I went on a 2 month long hiatus from work to just like...feel like myself again. And it still wasn't enough time. After graduating university I couldn't even look at a pencil for 3 months. Its totally normal, and so are the feelings of guilt. While I wouldn't advise you to rest on your laurels, I will say you're not alone.
Oh man that sounds really stressful! I hope you have mended your relationship with pencils since then.
It’s reassuring to hear that these feelings are normal, though it’s still hard to shake off the guilt. I’m trying though. I’m glad I started commissions again, it gives me a sense of purpose after all that, so I can recover but still be productive. I’m not too keen on going into the *booming voice* "INDUSTRY” yet, though, no matter how much my uni insists that EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW, I need to be applying for internships and making connections and promoting myself NOW. Some people in my course are going straight into an MA and I’m like “...how...”
Thanks for your support :)
