Kansas.

If none of you know about the bill that is trying to be passed in Kansas right now, it basically allows businesses to refuse service to anyone in the LGBTQ community. The reasoning behind that is "religious freedom". To me this sounds exactly like when stores/restaurants had the "right to refuse service" to anyone (African Americans) in the 1960's. It sounds EXACTLY the same, minus the fact that they won't be able to tell simply by looking at a person (though I'm sure they believe they can) and I am so mad about it and it makes me ashamed to call Kansas my home.

One of my very best friends who I've known since I was 5 made a post about how supportive her parents are of her life and who she is. Her mom said "If that bill gets passed, we are moving out of this state. We don't want to live in a place where Rachel is discriminated against". I'm so happy her parents are amazing people, and support her in everything she does. But thinking about if this bill is passed brings tears to my eyes. I can't imagine living in a world where I would go to grab a bite to eat and catch up with one of my friends, but then be refused service. The thought makes me sick. I hardly ever cry, but while thinking about this I literally just started crying and couldn't stop. It makes my heart hurt for everyone, especially those whose livelihoods are in danger. People deserve to be treated like people, this world is ridiculous.
