Currently there is a gap between the field of oncology research and therapy practices. The small animal radiation research platform (SARRP) attempts to bridge the gap by offering an image guided micro irradiator (IGMI). This enables the user to target and treat the specimen in a submillimetric fashion. The authors ask how well the dosimetry compares to actual readings in different organs of the body. This information helps study different tumour model types at different sites. They learned there is no more than a maximum 6% difference in calculation versus measurement using a Mosfet detector placed in mice organs.
