Getting radical in the city by the bay
This weekend, that actually was not the weekend, the slaves and I took off for San Francisco. We left the not so snowy Lake Tahoe and the rising sun east of us. We all have been working a ton and a little bit of beer, boot stomping, and skateboarding was just what we needed. Maybe a little Day Quill and ice cream too.
On Wednesday we went to Hayward to help Ashley’s parents clear out her grandparents house that they have lived in since World War II. We all got ourselves some treasures that was their trash (we actually pulled some stuff out of the dumpster). While we were in the area, we skated Freemont skatepark. I had one of those days where you can’t stop smiling and you remember after each trick you land why you keep coming back to skateboarding slam after slam.
As the sun began to set, we rolled the windows down, turned the music up and headed into the city. In that moment with the wind in my face, a beer in my hand, good music in the air, and some of the greatest girls I know by my side, I was completely content.
That night we went and saw American Aquarium, one of Ashley’s friends bands from North Carolina. We stomped our cowboy boots like the true hillbillys we are and I took a few too many shots of whiskey.
The Jameson hindered my skating the next morning at Potrero, but by the time we had ice cream and headed to Benicia skatepark, I felt like a million bucks!!
Per usual the trip was not long enough, but we have another Radical Nature adventure in the books and I am already fiending for our next trip. As always here are some snapshots from the weekend (that was not actually the weekend)…
