1. Marmalade or jam? Both. Either. Yum.
2. Is there a certain book/film/tv show that you can’t help but judge people a little for if they don’t appreciate it? Ha. Jane Eyre, definitely. Show me a person, male or female, who doesn't appreciate that novel and my opinion of them immediately plummets. And if they describe it as "just a romance," I have to close my eyes and count to five and try not to do blue murder. It's so much more than that. Also, The X Files but I'm completely irrational about that because it's so perfect to me, intelligent and emotional and metaphysical and creepy and funny and everything. It just upsets me when people don't see that because it's so obvious to me. I can understand how people would be prejudiced about Buffy, how they couldn't see past some aspects but that's their damned loss so I just shrug it off.
3. You have no way out - would you rather eat a banana slug or a house centipede? I think I'd rather die. Or be tortured or whatever. The idea of either makes me want to throw up forever.
4. Do you have a favourite poem? Does the Scarlet Pimpernel verse count? Hee hee. No, I do adore Dylan Thomas, he's the only poet I can tolerate but I couldn't quote you a whole poem, just phrases here and there like "Altarwise by owl-light" and "through salt and root and roe." I go through periods of intense Dylan Thomas love and then I lose all my knowledge.
5. If you could rename yourself, what name would you choose? I was going to change my name to Michaelia. But then I realised how much I had written under my own name and I didn't want to disown that history. So now Michaelia is the name of the girl in a novel I've been trying to find for about fifteen years.
6. Would you like to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? Oh, rather. As long as he doesn't tread on my toes. Or sparkle.
7. How do you feel about bonfires? A little nervous.
8. What’s the highest cocoa % you find palatable in chocolate? 54. Specifically Green & Black's Organic Milk Chocolate which is the only milk chocolate I adore. Best best chocolate in the whole world and I'm making a comprehensive study of this.
9. What would be your idea of a terrible first date? Silence. Finding we had nothing in common. Getting drenched in rain and him thoroughly hating that. The smell of bleach. It was horrible and I cried on the bus home. Though technically that was the second date and apparently I never have good second dates.
10. What is your opinion on pigeons? Lovely in fiction, less so in reality.
