I am the tired.
Work was ok I think. The laser cutter operator is trying out some new things. I don’t know how well it will work but meh.
I spent a chunk of today wondering about the possibilities of radiotrophic life developing intelligence. Like, we found a fungus that eats radiation in Chernobyl, and photosynthetic organisms technically eat a range of photonic radiation, but neither of these categories are on their way to tool use and creation. There’s some support for the idea that advanced intelligence requires a predatory phase in a species’ evolution, which radiotrophy would probably preclude. I’d kind of like to discuss this idea with someone, but I don’t think I know anyone with the necessary familiarity with the disparate fields of study. But meh. Also kind of wanted to write some sci-fi. Hard sci-fi is fun to think about.
