This is a Sheaffer 3-25 fountain pen in Jade Radite c. 1930s, made in Canada. It’s a 4 3/8 inch long lever filling pen with gold filled trim. It has a firm gold nib stamped SHEAFFER’S over 3-25 over MADE IN CANADA. The barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over (OF CANADA LTD.) TORONTO ONT. PAT. Over DEC. 10 12 JAN. 27 - OCT 20 - NOV. 24 14. This is a Sheaffer 46 Special Coral fountain pen, model R46C, c. 1926. This 5 5/16 inch long lever filling pen came in Coral and Black and in a shorter size with a choice of ringtop or clip. The trim is yellow gold filled. The nib is a semi-manifold gold nib stamped SHEAFFER over 46 over SPECIAL and was offered with a choice of extra fine, fine, medium, broad, posting and stub grades. The barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over PAT. AUG. 25 08 FORT MADISON, IA. U.S.A over DEC. 10 12 JAN. 27 - OCT 20 - NOV. 24 14. The barrel end is stamped F, indicating the Radite celluloid was made by the Fiberloid Corporation. A D stamping would indicate DuPont. A C would indicate the Celluloid Manufacturing Company, the originator of the trade name celluloid. This model sold for $5.00 in 1926. It has a firm gold nib stamped SHEAFFER’S over LIFETIME over REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. over MADE IN U.S.A. over a number. The barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over PAT. AUG. 25 08 FORT MADISON, IA. U.S.A over DEC. 10 12 JAN. 27 - OCT 20 - NOV. 24 14. The ball clip is stamped SHEAFFER’S and is positioned nearly even with the cap top. The cap top has the White Dot inlay in the center. This model has a retail price of $7.50 in the 1928 catalog. Matching propel-repel-expel pencils were $4.25 in 1928. This is a Sheaffer Lifetime model J8C oversize long fountain pen in unbreakable Jade Green Radite c. 1927-1928. It’s a 5 1/4 inch long lever filling pen with gold filled trim and two cap bands. The 1928 Sheaffer catalog shows 5-30 and 7-30 models with two cap bands while Lifetime pens are shown with one single wide cap band. From 1927 to 1929 Sheaffer advertisements in major magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post only show single band pens. Enough two cap band Lifetime, 7-30, 5-30 and cut out Demonstrator models exist to indicate this cap type was tried for a brief period. It has a firm gold nib stamped SHEAFFER’S over LIFETIME over REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. over MADE IN U.S.A. over a number. The barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over PAT. AUG. 25 08 FORT MADISON, IA. This is a throwback photo from 2004! This is a Sheaffer 74TC Jet Black Balance and a Sheaffer J8TC Jade Green Oversize Balance c. 1928-1930. These are lever fill fountain pens. The Jet Black pen is about 5 5/8 inches long and sold for $8.25 and its matching pencil sold for $3.25. The Jade Green pen is about 5 3/4 inches long and sold for $8.75 and its matching pencil sold for $4.25. Each has a firm gold nib stamped SHEAFFER’S over LIFETIME over REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. over MADE IN U.S.A. over a number. Each barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over FORT MADISON, IOWA, U.S.A over PAT’D – PATENT PENDING. The ball clip is stamped SHEAFFER’S and the White Dot is positioned just above it. It’s a 5 5/8 inch long lever filling pen with gold filled trim.  It has a firm gold nib stamped SHEAFFER’S over LIFETIME over REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. over MADE IN U.S.A. over a number.  The barrel is stamped W. A. SHEAFFER PEN CO. over PAT. AUG. 25 08 FORT MADISON, IA. U.S.A over DEC. 10 12 JAN. 27 - OCT 20 - NOV. 24 14.  The humped ball clip with a round top is similar to clips on c. 1930-1931 Balance pens, helping to date this pen.  This model does not show in the 1930 catalog but sold for $7.50 in the 1928 catalog. Matching propel-repel-expel pencils were $4.25 in 1928.  Note the barrel is a little darker than the cap, a common discoloration.
