Banana Popsicles: When I had yearbook with you, and you and a couple other people signed a petition to fire Mrs. Klein. Also, we used to be really big nerds in middle school (of course we still are), and we used to talk about updates and stuff every day. I also remember walking to the library with you occasionally and that one time you, me, and diana sat at the side of the building in front of the library and plucked out grass. I guess the general answer would be middle school. We were stupid, but it was fun.

3 things I’m proud of:

1. I got rid of my disgusting parting that I thought was cool. (It was like a 99 to 1 ratio. It was just bad)

2. I haven’t taken a nap in a week. It’s a really bad habit of mine and I’m working on trying to take less naps.

3. I got Beyonce to be in my life. That’s an accomplishment I will always be proud of.

ive never done it but my friend’s currently spending the year in Egypt, but i think that was only for uncommon languages (she’s learning arabic)

hey whats space theseus?

eyyyyyyy thank you!!!

so basically I take mythology as an elective in school. and we read the Theseus myth. and afterwards I was thinking about that part when he was sent with all the other tributes to kill or be killed by the minotaur. and somehow I though-

"okay cool but wouldn’t this be better with gay aliens in space???"

don’t ask how that thought came to mind. it did. and so Space Theseus was created!

the basic concept is that there’s some alien empire trying to conquer the galaxy / universe / whatever I haven’t fully thought this through. with each planet they conquer they take one inhabitant and send them off as tribute to a minotaur sort of monster but probably not at all like a bull? I’ve considered the concept of the monster being based on a black hole, which I think would be p cool.

so anyways I don’t know about the motives of these aliens like what are they even trying to accomplish? they’re really just a plot device right now, I’m still in pretty early planning stages.

and so they go and conquer earth, and earth’s randomly selected tribute is a teenager named Helena-

it feels so weird pairing together the words ‘Teenager’ and ‘Helena’ because they’re both MCR songs and I am an emo dork, anyways

-but she goes by Hel for short. one of her friends made a mistake in trying to find a nickname for her and it kinda stuck.

in the original Theseus myth there were like 14 tribute but that is too many. I’m still working on my other characters.

one is a lesbian skeleton alien named Anthea with a recently discovered affinity for crop tops and floral stuff (lesbian is a term I use kinda hesitantly bc aliens do not have a human gender binary so she’s not a girl in the earthly binary sense of the word but she and Hel will probably talk about that some)

one is nameless right now bc they come from a planet where the language is music, and there are like, no words, just different notes, so their name is some sort of song. probably they can fly and also their species is sustained almost entirely by the atmosphere and there’s very little biodiversity on the planet

the actual Theseus figure is an alien of the same species as the conquering empire, but living on a different planet. think Earth colonizing Mars. basically this faction of the alien species split off from the main one way back when, and there was some kind of civil war or conflict probably.

Theseus’s faction lost and now they have to send a tribute every year, not just at first conquest like the other planets. Theseus + their family were not happy with that. Theseus went as tribute but commandeered the tribute ship and intends to kill the black hole monster with the other tributes’ help.

ALSO: because ialpiriel asked: who are the characters and who of them hates the others guts

Hel and Theseus fight a LOT and by fight I mean get into really angry animated shouting matches which really don’t turn out well because of language differences, so when they shout neither one understands a word the other is saying. which just makes them shout more. and gradually they calm down and end up articulating clearly and in explicit detail exactly how much they hate each other right now and also help each other with their respective languages, because if you’re gonna tell someone why you hate them they’d better get the message really clearly. actually, Hel and Theseus’ shouting matches are the most efficient form of cultural diffusion the tributes get, it’s very educational.

also Theseus is not my Theseus figure’s real name but names are difficult, I’ll figure it out later.

may also feature Space Pygmalion the inventor and Galatea the rad robot lady idk, all myths should be rewritten in space
