I think as a kid Beach Bear was just naturally good at a lot of things, and he found them FUN, too! Swimming, strings (instruments), and singing! Nice and enjoyable hobbies for a kid to have!

I like to think his parents really leaned into this, getting him swim lessons, on swim team, music lessons, and competitions. It was fun for a while, but eventually it just felt like A Lot to him.

All of this made what could be fun hobbies instead turn into work and requirements, and that really ruined the fun for him.

Sometime in his teenage years he got really rebellious and dropped both swimming and music, saying they were stupid and a waste of time.

Basically being Good At Things made his parents push them on him really hard, and ruined everything fun about them.

At least we know as he got older he was able to come back around to enjoying the things he did as a kid, now on his own terms and without his parents pushing them on him!
