Ha ha ha, I understand the suggestion but I don’t know if I would give the same advice. You have a point, season three is a rushed mini-season that gave a lot of the characters the short shrift. It tried to wrap up a few too many things at once and seemed to have been written entirely to justify the final tableau. Also, there’s the way they handled Finn Nelson (they didn’t *cough*) leaving all the heavy lifting to Nico Mirallegro, who does great considering how little they gave him to work with.

BUT I’m a big believer in finishing series even when it’s a five alarm garbage fire like How I Met Your Mother or Dexter. The beauty of transformative works like fic is that uneven finales give us the opportunity to fix or reinterpret the shit show. 

Personally, I think the show is set up perfectly for another mini season some years down the line. Part of the reason I’m writing something right now about just that. It’s open ended enough that anyone’s future is worthy of a hundred outcomes.

Fic questions: 1, 12, 20, 27

1. what fandom(s) do you read? right now i pretty much only read marvel fics and on top of that i’m trying to stick exclusively to steve/bucky, SIMPLY because if i get in deep with sam/bucky or sam/steve or anything else, i will totally lose focus for my own fic :’)

as for like, my lifetime, damn. i’ve read fic for xmen, tolkien (+rpf), dragon age, how to get away with murder, supernatural, CSI, transformers. oh and some mcu rpf.

i have NOT read are star wars, star trek, and harry potter. CRAZY RIGHT. maybe they’re too overwhelming. i have read a little HP, but to this day can’t get into a popular pairing so it’s hard to find something super interesting to me

12. list a few of your favorite AUs. pretty much everything i read is some kind of AU. the ones that stand out best in my memory are always Wintering Out, Coffee Black, JSYD, Lockout, and the literary classic of our age, Not Easily Conquered

20. what’s the weirdest fic you’ve ever read? describe it. man i don’t even know. i’ve come across lots of weird fics. of course that depends on how you define weird! like, targeting is a weird fic, certainly to some people. all RPF is weird in its way.

i read a harry potter fic once that involved time travel and some kind of parallel universe situation, and snape was unreasonably good, and for some reason harry didn’t recognize sirius, and i think mpreg came in at one point and that was when i tapped out. like i said, it’s hard to wade through all that HP fic.

27. Name a type of fic that you wish there was more of. i mean y’all know my INSTINCT is to say sports au. i didn’t realize how dry that well was until i started writing my own. especially since half of what IS out there is~ GREAT, but sort of that shallow kind of under-researched AU that exists solely to get a group of muscly characters alone in a public shower. which is a great genre in its own right, don’t get me wrong ;) ;)
