OK BUT FOR REAL 8, 36, and 39 !!
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT QUESTIONS.
8. where and when do they seem most and least at ease? why? how can you tell?
you’d think chuck, doin’ the hannah montana with his teaching & contract killing, would honestly seek the most solace completely alone in his greenhouse, surrounded by hundreds of plants he’s grown entirely by himself, tending to them, studying them, taking notes and just enjoying the silence. but that’s actually completely off. in his leisure, there’s nothing chuck loves more than to be surrounded by people and life ------ their vibrancy, their companionship, hell, even the assholes got a soft spot in his heart; gives him a good reason to redden those knuckles. if he’s got a lot on his mind, he’ll take himself out to lunch or invite a friend. go to a park. sit at a cafe. soak in the sounds of the environment for a few hours and just busy himself by socializing merrily.
36. how much do they rely on their minds and intellect, versus other approaches like relying on instinct, intuition, faith and spirituality, or emotions? what is their opinion on this?
as you’d guess, chuck is obviously a man of science and logic. this isn’t to say that he completely rules out intuition, but he’s much more likely to plan, plan, plan ahead. he’s not really one to just do things on a whim, being scarred at even the vaguest thought of something going wrong and all that he has to lose.
and honestly, he’s completely neutral on the topic. whatever works, works. he’s not one to lecture anybody on “the right way” of anything --- even as a biologist, he’s 100% there for just doing what you feel is best, believing what you want to believe.
39. what sort of questions or thoughts recur in their lives, either specifically or as a theme? why are these never answered, or answered permanently to their satisfaction?
oh, you know. those night thoughts that keep you awake. like: when is this ever gonna end. where the fuck did i go wrong. what if viola finds out. what if lottie comes back for me. when’s thanksgiving break again. did i even prepare a study guide. what the fuck is frank ocean up to.
... all the long-term stuff remains unanswered because it’s all yet to come into fruition, but all his teaching worries are more constant, usually because balancing his line of work is hard as shit and he’s more scatterbrained than not when it comes to his day job.
