That could have been a better movie without the lone white savior from futuristuc 99.9% nonbilingual Latino LA
I honestly stopped giving two shits after the whole "undocumented Mexicans in outer space" plot sequence began. but the whole Jodie foster dying from her stabbed jugular was great though. Detestable character she was

she does now and then, but she really seems to rely on that “i will learn it by hearing it" thing which idk how much might be true, at the cost of not studying it in other ways as much. are you fluent in spanish?
I guess, however I sometimes, only sometimes, forget a word in Spanish and am forced to use English. I'm fairly confident in my Spanish but those slip ups, god, I fucking hate them

no wait i meant english was an alien language. which makes me feel bad bc we never ever talk in english in spite of the fact that my mother wants to learn
Your post got me a little confused there! My mom is the exact opposite, she says she has gotten this far without speaking English so therefore she doesn't need it. Has your mom tried to make the effort to speak it nowadays? I wish my mother wasn't as stubborn; it'd be nice to be like
"Dearest Mother, I'm home from school"
or some american shit like that.

because my mom says now and then that she wants to learn and that hearing it spoken is the quickest way to, but its such an alien language while we’re at home, even now roughly 10 yrs later.
Yeah, it's normal! But just like how speaking Spanish is an alien language in your household; that's exactly how English is regarded in my household; I just find it strange, I never addressed anyone in my immediate family (aside from my sisters/brothers) in English. Spanish was the constant. I'm not saying it's a bad thing (unless you're actively trying to erase your culture in an effort to assimilate); Some people are just never exposed to it as heavily as first generation children are. If that makes sense?
But then again given the huge generation gap between my mother and I, it'd be nice to talk to her English, there'd probably be more clarity when we do talk.
