Four artists for the price of one! It’s a SPLIXTAPE. Good stuff from start to finish here. Prana Crafter continues to explore a swirly sonic landscape, moving from Neil Young-y broods to freaky moods. ragenap (AKA Joel Berk, whose sweet blahg you are no doubt familiar with) kicks off his contribution with a “Dark Star”-ish groove, which then (appropriately) shifts into an abstract, spacey zone. NICE. Side two features an array of ominous whooshes from Tarotplane and Horse Apples, often gentle but not exactly soothing, occasionally interrupted by lashes of wah guitar. Six bucks? This shit is priceless. SPLIX!

Seawind Of Battery & ragenap - Chaos Life Preserver

Since it's just about Halloween, here's a chocolate-and-peanut-butter kind of situation for your Bandcamp Monday. Seawind of Battery (AKA Mike Horn) and ragenap (AKA Joel Berk) have joined forces for this massive slab of dangerously beautiful dronecore released on the esteemed Eiderdown label. Billowing feedback, shimmering soundscapes, heady interplay — Chaos Life Preserver is a fully transcendent trip (and hopefully just the beginning of this pair's collaborations).

ragenap - Thriving Culture

The USA has the day off today, but Bandcamp Monday never rests! We've linked to many, many of Joel Berk's live tapes over the years, but Joel also makes music of his own under the ragenap moniker. Thriving Culture is his best effort yet, a thoroughly mind-splitting 42 minutes of heady guitar drone zones. The first half is ominous and thundercloud-esque, a megalithic riff twisted and turned inside out over and over until something entirely new emerges. The second half is a gentler, but no less captivating ride, pastel hues, twinkling starscapes, lovely overtones. Everybody thrive!

So great to see my good pal do his thing! Had such a blast hanging out last weekend - thanks to ragenap for the drones, Dave & Leeann for the incredible space, Bubba for the visuals, and friends new & old for the excellent vibes!
