No Regrets (Not Those Regrets)

“No, dear one,” this slumping figure sits alone with that light swinging overhead, this bed nothing less than—creaky, thin, filled with dread, “I don’t regret it. Are you safe?”

That nodding head removes the hat marking fierce deaths (too many to count in centuries of raging red.) This scene, it paints the picture of the tired, the withdrawn, the drunken myth.

Please, do not count the bottles, but recall she’s relieved fear.

“I’m glad you’re safe, dear one,” this giant so small, this archetype shattered with curvature says. “Please get some rest.”

She forgot to charge that phone again, but it never matters when you fall asleep to recurring nightmares and broken dreams.
