Jumy-M Tetrapod vs. Raging waves / 消波ブロック対荒波
Refreshing aqua green for this summer weave kimono, showing an u (cormorant) perched on a rope buoy amidst raging waves.
(While those are pretty rare normally, I've found so many cormorant themed items this year it's wild!)
Hoda Mohajerani Releases New Single, Raging Waves
Hoda Mohajerani releases her new single Raging Waves on Dec 21st.
An absinthe of garage, rock, indie-pop, blues-punk and the distinct timbre and vulnerability of Hoda’s voice, at times reminiscent of Hazel O’Connor and Lene Lovich.
Raging Waves is like a musical storm set to become an anthem for all who have been engulfed by hopelessness, doubt and fear and who have through love, dedication and above all courage, arisen victorious. A warrior, a rocker and a woman of heart, Hoda has charted a unique course through the tides of her cultural and religious background. Her new single Raging Waves gives us an absolute bearing with which to chart our own.
“Hoda is definitely one to watch…” FINK
“A great song!” NICK LAUNAY (Yeah Yeah Yeah’s/ Nick Cave)
“I love the emotion and commitment in the vocals” CHRIS POTTER (Verve/Rolling Stones)
“Poised between songwriting a la Joni Mitchell, Rock and Brit-Pop Beautiful and sharp” KURIER
“It seems like this woman is ready to take over the music industry.” MRU
A bitch’s brew of Iranian-British singer, songwriter and guitarist, Hoda Mohajerani has her debut EP “Arrivals” tucked in her back pocket whilst pouring the alt-rock world the first shot from her forthcoming full-length album “Miracle Inc.”
In the throes of the Iranian revolution of 1979, Hoda and her family fled the country just before the government shut its airports. They lived in exile, in Paris at first, where a young Hoda would put on records and monster headphones to silence the constant boom of political banter in her home. Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Ricki Lee Jones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, The Doors, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Patti Smith, The Clash- these were some of the artists that showed the young political immigrant how music transcends borders.
A warrior, a rocker and a woman of heart, Hoda has charted a unique course through the tides of her cultural and religious background to get here, and it looks like she’s going to stay.
Following on from the success of her debut EP “Arrivals” Hoda’s performance of Raging Waves received a standing ovation at London’s legendary 100 Club on September 9th 2012. Hoda’s first full-length album “Miracle Inc.” is due out in 2013.
