RahgolDok’s Lair Review
@rahgoldov
tons of great dragons below the cut!
I want to begin by saying I love how in your lore you’ve combined parts of The Viridian Labyrinth and The Tangled Wood. I also like how on some dragons, you take a more minimalism approach and just decorate them with a skin or accent instead of apparel. They come out just as beautiful as others. I also admire how you have made a home for a bunch of older dragons and have made them look fantastic in your lair.
Qune
Qune is fierce, elegant, and intelligent all in one single dragon. The gold and browns really pop against her dark, abyss wings. She looks like a warrior princess, and I really wouldn’t want to get on her bad side. I also enjoy the subtle detail of the goggles matching her seafoam primary.
Shady
Shady looks like a geode-- and not just because of her accent, but also due to the Garb you chose for her. What I love most about her is the small splashes of green and pink we get from orca and platinum poitox, and I love how the pink matches her eyes just right. Excellent work on this one.
Regulus
I love the saturation of his colors. Adding reds to his yellows was a nice way to keep the color palette mostly warm. The bright opal goes well with the golden highlights in his jewelry. With the combination of flowers and jewels, Regulus gives me royalty vibes. Overall, I feel that it’s rare to see a brightly colored Ridgeback, and this one is so well put together.
Nahkriin
Nahkriin looks like he crashlanded from space and wound up selling lamps. This is one of those minimalism dragons with just a single accent on it that just makes them look stunning. Nahkriin would be beautiful by himself, but with the accent he is breathtaking.
Serg
Serg is a swirling void of shadows. He’s intimidating and fierce, and while his outfit is busy, it really fits with his overall shadow-like look. This dragon definitely feels at home in The Tangled Wood, and I love how you matched him with the Silver Springbok.
Whakawai
I am in love with the blues and greens in Whakawai. She looks like she could be an eldritch horror, or another type of deep ocean goddess. I love your use of blacks here-- with the antlers, armor, grasp, and shadowstrike. The treeshroud is also an excellent touch as it almost looks like seaweed. When I look at her I keep noticing small details that I just love (like the flowers at her foot). Easily one of my favorites from your lair.
Tron
I love how you combine soft and jagged items onto one dragon, and Tron is an exceptional example of this. The blues here really blend together well, and are layered in such a way where she doesn’t seem too washed out or overpowered by blue. She looks to be a sort of mystic warrior, and the nose bandage is a lovely addition.
Eion
I love love love dragons that make use of a small splash of color like Eion does. The browns and greys are showcased beautifully next to that rich red, and the small splashes of yellow from the jewelry, flowers, and summer swelter add a nice detail to the outfit without distracting the eye. He is paired wonderfully with the Laybrush Larcenist. I love the abstract art in his bio, and I’m intrigued by your ability to turn light into something that sounds menacing.
Easar
Easar is so vibrant and saturated. I love the use of grape and green-- it’s almost as if he is a living grapevine. The flowers from the rose thorn apparel is an amazing touch. It feels as though this dragon is literally the border between The Viridian Labyrinth and The Tangled Wood
Kogaan
Kogaan blows me away with aqua and peacock creating such a nice combination. The Sanddune rags and eternal flame apparel give her such a mysterious energy, and I applaud your use of the plasmool apparel which incorporates the staff into the palette.
Torpe
Torpe looks like a fun witch or wizard! The gold from the sylvan and the earring are lovely splashes of color. I didn’t realize he had multigaze at first, and I can’t wait to see if you do anything to show off those eyes.
Myitikos
Myitikos has such a FABULOUS color palette. Blue, brown, and gold all go so well with each other and the plague goat eyes make her seem like a trickster. I’m totally in love with her ghastly design. Lapis python makes it look like she has little blue spirits all over her body and it’s one of my favorite things about the python and morph gene in general. She’s incredibly unique looking, and I think you’ve nailed her look here.
Raddick
I love everything about Raddick. His soft purple accent colors, and how the dried flower items pair nicely with that and the amber jewelry. He still keeps up an intense look with the armor, which is also illustrated in his bio! It’s just a small interaction but it tells us so much about his character. He’s such a great earth and shadow representative!
