He even looked different. He's smiling widely with Michael.

I definitely noticed that, too. The difference between David at the recent Adele thing and with Michael at the NTAs is very, very visible.

It’s almost remarkable to see the difference in David’s body and smile in these two pictures. His posture on the left is noticeably stiff compared to on the right, which gives the impression that he isn’t completely comfortable. With Michael, David is entirely comfortable, his shoulders are relaxed, and he just looks warmer and happier overall. His smile on the left is a “red carpet” smile--not necessarily fake, but not his “real” smile, either. With Michael, however, David is all crinkly eyes and upturned mouth corners, which we can see more closely here:

That smile goes straight up to his eyes and lights up his entire face. And I can’t help but think that the difference in his demeanor is also due to the fact that Michael was there helping him through it. Michael solidly protected David, and though they were posing on the NTA red carpet, Michael being there seemed to help David feel invigorated by the moment, instead of drained (as we see in the Adele event picture). Michael knew the pictures were necessary, but didn’t force a photo op, and gave David just the supportive nudge he needed to get it done. So, so lovely...

We didn't get the kiss in Central Park in Staged, they should make it happen now

Perhaps a kiss in Central Park in the snow wasn’t in the cards, but imagine if we were to get a kiss in St. James Park instead? Aziraphale and Crowley sitting on their favorite bench, fingers tenderly linked as they chat away, both still slightly flushed and giddy as newlyweds. Slowly, they lean in, 6,000 years of love and longing radiating out from the deepest places in their hearts, faces a “Ngk’s”-breadth apart...and then Crowley miracles a minor earthquake just to shift the tectonic plates enough to press Aziraphale’s lips against his.

Oh, how lovely that would be...

Aw, this is so sweet! I can’t tell you how much that means. I’m always worried that I might be boring people to tears with my wordy posts, or that everyone reading it is rolling their eyes thinking I am picking things apart too much. I really do love discussing Michael and David and their relationship, so it makes me happy that others are enjoying my thoughts and analyses, too. Thank you!  💗

I love David's face when Michael at some point in his speech calls Ana, hehe. And then he makes clear that is all about Michael and he and nobody else. 

Yep, I definitely noticed that. I know they were probably doing a bit, but the real them was still there, too, and David’s face and what he said after still spoke volumes. And the way he said “We’re a double act!” and how his eyes lit up was absolutely the cutest thing ever:

It’s an extension of what we first saw with Good Omens, where neither Michael nor David see their performances as separate, but as one. And that’s what I love about Michael saying that David was holding him up, because he knows that the strength of their performances (both in GO and Staged) is that it’s them specifically together, and that it would absolutely not be the same if anyone else was in those roles. So lovely...

I had the very same thought! “Does he love me?” Michael once asked in a GO interview last year, referring to Aziraphale and Crowley but quite possibly also he and David (as if anyone can tell the difference nowadays). “He wouldn’t possibly comment on that,” came David’s charming, cheeky response. A year and a half later, one thing we can say for sure is that David certainly does seem to have a crush on Michael’s beard.

First there was the interview just a few months ago where David described Michael’s beard as “cuddly,” and now this new comment...which when paired with the first one seems all laden with all kinds of innuendo. Perhaps as if to suggest that David has had an up close and personal look (or two, or three) at Michael’s beard. And then he tops it all off by blowing Michael a kiss at the end! For being the “less demonstrative” of the two of them, David is saying quite a bit by saying very little. So delightful...

In regard to your comment, @lostkittyramblings, I think what has happened with Staged 2 is that the line between reality and fiction has become very, very blurry. Not with all situations and people in Staged 2, of course, but most certainly with the boys. And this definitely did not have to go the way it did, because David could have taken one look at the script for the cowboy scene and said, “Uh, you’re having me say that I’m going to ride Michael? That’s a bit weird, isn’t it?” Or Michael could’ve read the improv scene and said, “Hit my face like improv jizz? Is a facial metaphor really the way to go here?”

But instead we have David in the cowboy scene making fucking sound effects and waving his arms like an inflatable car dealer noodle while saying he is going to ride Michael, and Michael in the other scene drawing his hands down over his face as if to mime actually wiping off David’s metaphorical ejaculate. Not to mention Michael gaping open-mouthed at David like he wants to spread him over his toast like Marmite, Michael’s poignant breakdown over wanting to be there for David and wanting to hug someone, David not being able to hang up on Michael and looking at him adoringly, Michael calling David “love,” and of course the incredibly emotional ending that was tenderly reminiscent of Bergman and Bogie in Casablanca, but in the Covid era.

So, yes. Staged 2 is ridiculous and hilarious and sweet and a beautiful love story that came to life because of Michael and David and the way they played it, and that is something for which we can be very grateful indeed.

I’m not over David calling Michael “love.” I probably never will be. It’s fucking canon now, for god’s sake. And David said it so casually, as if he’s said it a hundred times before, but still it makes Michael pause and his heart skip a beat. They have fed us all very, very well...

I had to edit and upload a clip just for this, because yes. That is exactly how it comes across, that he is eager for Michael’s opinion/approval. His voice gets totally high-pitched and he leans in and is working the hell out of that collarbone and knows exactly what he is doing...
