I skipped prompt 2, and then drew the third prompt, which was “Pre First Nonary Game, Aoi gives Akane a present whilst walking down a street on Christmas day. Unbeknownst to anyone involved, they pass Clover and Light walking the opposite direction, Clover gifting Light a present”. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to show the two pairs of siblings without having to draw two separate pictures, until I came across the Japanese embankment streets with the bridge going over a road and a river. I still had to improvise, because I couldn’t find an exact view of whatever I had in my head, so in the end this piece’s turned into metaphorical one (because, you know, this series and metaphors go hand in hand.). Here, two pairs of siblings who care for each other deeply cross each other’s paths, sensing a faint connection. The Fields are much better off — full family, pretty wealthy, they would be looked for. Their path is brighter, framed by hope, faith, love and luck. The Kurashiki orphans are lonely (Akane is outright an outcast) and don’t have much to their name, they wouldn’t be missed. Their path is gloomy, and there are licks of fire dancing on one thread of fate. We do know they would cross paths at least twice or even thrice since then. But where would their paths lead them? Would they cross again after that? Nobody knows.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, TNT! I ended up doing three out of your five prompts (and kinda sorta referencing another one, so… three and a half? Four?). This was probably the hardest year to think of stories and compositions, but it also felt like a puzzle, so I had a lot of fun figuring them out! Let’s go through them in order:

The first prompt was “Quark and Robo Sean compare their experiences with their headgear, and K decides to pitch in with his own experience in the armour (Very silly/lighthearted interaction)”. Silly and lighthearted is something that I’m always down for, but I had trouble tying the boys together at first. Then I remembered that one line about what’s inside Quark’s helmet, which was snacks. And K, the poor guy, must always be so hungry, yearning for something to chew on… And Sean? We barely know anything about his capabilities, so I thought that in would be fun if he can body double as a projector/smart device. So after that little chat they decided to get the key to K’s armour from Dio and use him as a makeshift Christmas tree along the way (which is a reference to prompt 5, “Sean, Quark and Clover all decorate Dio like he's a Christmas tree, while Dio is glowering but tolerating it”). Clover had a lot of fun (and kept giving Dio the “I’m gonna strangle you MF if you try anything funny” look) tying him up, I think. And then she went to prepare the feast with the other girls and the guys huddled on the couch (using K’s robe as a blanket) and watched some old cartoons. They gave Sean a cup as well so he wouldn’t feel left out (he gave it to Dio). And they also sometimes stuff a couple of chips into him to keep him silent. And before you ask — that’s K’s cup on Quark’s head, since it’s easier to reach. What do you think they’re watching?

The last prompt, number four, was “Post Second Nonary Game, Clover and Light dress up as Santas to try and sneak away from their bodyguards, so they can go Christmas shopping together”.

Why should Clover dress as a boring Santa, when she can dress as a cute Snegurochka (and make Light dress up as Ded Moroz)? So here she is. Also I thought that making a guy sit on a chair by the door wouldn’t be proper, so I gave him his own booth (let’s pretend that there actually two bodyguards, but they work in shifts). They are trying to distract their bodyguard with a gift and good wished in broken Russian (with Clover almost blowing their cover in the process). Had he realized who they were? Instantly. Is he happy? Yes. Is he gonna let the children have a bit of fun, but still follow them from a distance? Also yes. So… a win-win situation!

I also imagine the Field residence as a garish-in-a-tasteful-way, extravagant place. That picture is somewhat a homage to the one and only Funyarinpa, plus I felt like adding some leopard pattern (like Clover has on one of her outfits).I think it suits her and would totally be her style.

So… there you have it. This year… wasn’t exactly terrible for me, but absolutely stressful and tiresome for several health-related reasons (which I won’t dwell on here, but feel free to DM me if you’re interested in hearing me rant about it, lol). I really hope that the next one will be more… predictable and calm, so to say. This is basically the only three full pictures I drew this year, so I hope they’re at least somewhat decent. This is also my 7th year of Zecret Santa, and this makes me really happy, to have this silly little fandom and this wholesome event as something constant in my life, that I can look forward to. I wish everyone Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays! May the next year be your best one yet! And here to another year of this crazy fandom!
