Raihan
The Pokemon of choice for his little crotchspawn is a Noibat. Dragon-types don’t tend to be the easiest Pokemon to look after, but Noibat is pretty much the best candidate if Raihan wants to stay on brand. As long as he house trains it first.
He planned to give it to his kid on their birthday, but he’s way, way too excited about it to wait any longer than like. A week after he actually gets the Noibat. When he finally breaks, he rushes up to their room at midnight, trying to apologise for waking them while shoving the pokeball in their hands.
It may as well be him receiving his first Pokemon again, with how excited Raihan is. After being released, Noibat chirps in a cheerful tone and stumbles across the bed covers to his kid, who’s still in a bit of sleepy surprise.
Raihan has to confirm that yes, the Noibat is for them, before being tackled back to the bed in a tight hug, Noibat between him and his kid. Then they have about five seconds of happy laughter and tearful thank you’s before Noibat decides it doesn’t like being crushed, and starts reminding everyone in the street why it’s called the Sound Wave Pokemon.
Yes he takes a million photos of his crotchspawn and Noibat yes he cries over every single one.
Milo
The perfect mix of grass-type and softness, Milo gives his darling little flowerbud a Cottonee. Since they like to imitate him by trying to lift up one of the Wooloos, he figures a much, much lighter Pokemon would make things easier.
Unlike Raihan, Milo manages to hold off until their birthday to give them the Cottonee, waiting until after they open all their other presents before handing them a small box with the pokeball inside it.
The Cottonee is a timid little thing, a perfect match for his shy flowerbud. That fact is made much more apparent when Milo has to be the one to urge his child to reach a hand out for Cottonee to inspect, and keep an arm around Cottonee’s back so it doesn’t try to float off and hide somewhere in the field.
When the two finally decide they like each other, and his flowerbud has Cottonee wrapped in a tight embrace close to their chest, the smile and soft ‘thank you’ they give him is, quite literally, the best thing he’s ever received in his life.
All Milo’s Wooloo just adore both his child and their Cottonee. It’s not an uncommon sight to see Cottonee riding around on the back of a Wooloo while its newbie trainer chases them both around.
Leon
He’s a wreck on what to give his kid for their first Pokemon. Wooloo, Skwovet, Blipbug, and Rookidee are all standard starting Pokemon, but they’re all so common. How will his little champ stand out?
But a lot of more unique Pokemon tend to be harder to deal with and train, and Leon definitely doesn’t want his baby accidentally getting hurt due to his choice on their starter Pokemon. No, he wants to give them something special that’ll be their best friend for life, like Charmander was for him.
In the end, he decides to give them a choice out of three much like he had at their age; a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Leon presents the three to his kid the day they tell him they want to enter the Gym Challenge, trying to discreetly wipe the tear from his eye at the sight of his little champ playing with the starters.
He gives them a minute on their own to decide, and returns to them holding the Squirtle high above their head, laughing as Squirtle spritzes them with a light Water Gun. Is he a little bit disappointed they didn’t pick Charmander? Maybe. Though he supposes Squirtle is just as good.
Leon should’ve known his little champ would’ve immediately challenged him to a battle, and he hauls them up high in a tight celebratory hug after their Squirtle OHKO’s Charizard with a valiant Bubble.
