We’re proud to be a part of the coalition that has helped to shape and support this. LRB-1760 will lift up the pay of tens of thousands of service-industry employees and their families, but we need your help - before September 9th at 5pm - to ensure that it passes. Here's how it works: • Restaurants, bars and other places which have tipped employees can voluntarily raise the minimum which they pay from the sub-minimum wage of $2.33/hr to at least $7.25/hr. • Because such a raise, unassisted, would jeopardize many restaurants and bars, that business will continue to collect Wisconsin sales tax, but will apply it to that raise instead of sending it to the state. • Not taking advantage of the $2.33 sub minimum wage makes businesses eligible for tip pooling so that back of house employees (cooks, dishwashers, bussers) will benefit, too. • These raises will allow many restaurant and bar employees to reduce or eliminate their reliance on public assistance, easing the burden on Wisconsin taxpayers. This legislation is being authored by Rep. Jonathan Brostoff, and sponsored by Senator Chris Larson and Rep. Christine Sinicki. Although putting more money into the hands of working people shouldn't be a partisan issue (especially since this operates through a tax cut), we're especially seeking Republican co-sponsors to support this tax cut for Wisconsin's small businesses. Whether you live in their district, or have patronized restaurants or bars there, please reach out to them. We'll add a link in the comments to help you find your representatives. When they reply (with a yes or a no), keep us updated - comment in this thread or reach out to us directly. Please tag and share, especially to friends and family who care about Wisconsin's service industry employees and who might live in Republican districts. #Wisconsin #serverstories #servers #raisetheminimumwage #minimumwage #subminimumwage @raisewithroc @roc_united https://www.instagram.com/p/B1uhuPOnJe-/?igshid=1qsos1i2nm4zt
