Rake, standing in the bathtub, fully clothed, spraying his potted plants with the shower head and playing faint thunder sound effects and jungle animal noises on his phone: I want them to experience the rainforest.
Rake: *takes deep breath* All right, I can do this. I can do this. *Rake walks up to Pepper* Pepper: Hello Rake! Rake, throwing caution to the wind and deciding he's just going to do it: Morning Pepper! Uh, roses are red, violets are blue... Rake's thoughts: And I love you. Rake's mouth:...Tulips come in all sorts of colors, and daffodils are also yellow... Pepper: They certainly are! I love all those brightly colored flowers. Rake: And I love them too! I love a lot of things-like-uh-you. *later* Rake: How could I have fumbled for so long?? Jester: What matters is that your heart was in it. *pauses, then snorts* Daffodils are also yellow. Ha!
Rake: You look beautiful today, Pepper. Pepper: Aww thank- Rake: April fools! Rake: You look beautiful every day.
Smithy: I never thought you would be a party person, Rake.
Rake: Well, parties with Pepper are different.
Smithy: Different how?
Rake: You know how at a party you can just pick a corner to hide in and feel safe? Pepper is my corner.
Smithy: Awwwww.
Rake, blushing: Ha ha, stop it.
Jane: Why are Rake and Pepper sitting with their backs to each other?
Jester: They had a fight.
Jane: Then why are they holding hands?
Jester: They get sad when they fight.
Rake, to Pepper: You have to meet my new plants. They'll be so happy to see you, and make sure to tell them how pretty they are and how welcome they are in our home.
*modern au* Pepper: Truth be told, I get annoyed at Rake sometimes. But it's hard to stay annoyed at a guy who held a recycling themed birthday party once.
