Hey! Did you realize that I've had my 1984 Raleigh Crested Butte for over seven years? Owning any bike for five years is a big deal, but now the Crested Butte is my longest-owned bike, ever. It's the bike that got me in love with 26 inch wheels and vintage mountain bikes. To think I almost sold this bike once or twice... Today I did some futzing. I removed the #waldbasket Model 257 Pizza Delivery Rack. The rack is still great, but I realize that it's just too much for this bike. I wanted to return the Crested Butte to what it was more like the first year or two I owned the bike, with a small front basket. So, I took the Wald basket off of my #schwinnheavyduti and installed it on the Butte...for now. It is much lighter, and makes the bike more nimble. But mind you, with that slack geometry and trail that would scare the pants off Jan Heine, it's not the most nimble of bikes naked! Still, it's a lot of fun. I may try out a different rack and/or basket at some point, but the smaller Wald will do for now. As for the Pizza Rack? It'll go on the Schwinn Heavy Duti. It's proven itself in the past year, and I want to make that my "hauling bike". There's some other changes that'll happen to the Heavy Duti too. More on that later.
