“Okay, so we’ll use Raleway for our presentation.”
— freshmen working on a long-term group project, roughly ten minutes into the initial brainstorming process.
This led to a lengthy discussion about favorite typefaces. What are they going to present on? Who knows!

Week 5 Graphics II
For this weeks reading the class was assigned to read chapter 4 “The Typographic Grid.” This chapter was quite interesting to me, everything from how the letters have their own direction to all of the different styles and ways to make a grid. I’ve used a grid once or twice before but other than that they are semi new concepts to me. There are so many ways you can design your grid to work specifically for your project. Personally I like the modular grids more when working because its just a simple grid for me to see where sections of my project are. I feel like column grids are definitely useful as well but I don't find myself wanting to use them.
This week in class we only went on Monday and had an asynchronous class on Wednesday. We had a critique on our initial type specimen poster and i’m happy to say that my little lizard is getting to stay. I’m glad I was able to use him in the poster in some way because I spend time drawing him and thought he fits in with the feel of my posters so well. I enjoyed designing my type specimen poster because it was simple in terms or requirements and I got to organize a bunch of information on a poster to look neat. I’m very pleased with the work I've created so far and I can't wait to see the final project printed and put onto a wall.
