Why we love Daichi?? Lemme crack my knuckles real quick
We’ll start with a couple canon points and then get into it further:
+ one of the first people to see potential in Hinata and Kageyama as teammates
+ literal backbone of the team and the second best receiver next to Nishinoya
+ all around solid player on every front
+ motivational king — everyone remember that one pep talk he gave Michimiya? And the episodes against Johzenji & Wakutani in season 2?
+ buys everyone food after practices (^-^) love that for him
+ respectful 😖 apologizes for the teams’ behavior and supports the girl’s volleyball team (as he should)
+ competitive, but in a more subtle way that makes him all the more alluring and put-together
+ not easily aggravated by petty taunts or inconveniences thrown his way - his spouts of discipline are more reserved for the team lmao
+ he enjoys teasing his close friends on occasion, especially Asahi and Tanaka
Okay, now to the headcanons that I personally perceive about Daichi, cause I think they’re pretty accurate
+ if he sees you even looking down for like, two seconds, he can and will ask you what’s wrong. if something is in fact upsetting you, he’ll get you a snack or help you out in any way he can
+ deadass will give you a massage if he thinks you’re too stressed out but anyways—
+ offers to drive people everywhere!! mostly in a responsible manner, ofc
+ will show up at your house at ungodly hours to go to a convenience store/drive through on a whim
+ he’s super dense when it comes to things regarding people finding him attractive (semi-canon because poor Michimiya lmfao). try pointing out anyone blatantly crushing on him and he’ll probably wave it off with a light blush and a soft smile
+ type of guy to put his arm!! around!! the back of the passenger seat!!
+ he’s got a seriously fantastic playlist and almost no one knows about it - there’s a little bit of country on there but please forgive him for the sake of the other bangers he’s got stacked in there
+ opens doors for strangers and classmates
+ never forgets birthdays or important dates; has a list for it somewhere
+ listen, he is very put together, but let me tell you that Daichi buys food most of the time for a reason: he sucks at cooking anything beyond the comprehension level of a pancake. won’t set the kitchen on fire or anything, but the product of his culinary efforts are on the crispier side
+ and i know i covered this in the canon side of things, but he’s so teasing and sarcastic with his closest friends. he has very sound and accurate roasts that hit a little too close to home sometimes, to the point where he’ll occasionally stop and ask if one was “too mean” 💀 roast him back as karma and he’ll take it
+ *ahem* for the simps: hand-holding, tight hugs after winning/succeeding in something (feet = off the ground), forehead kithes, sitting between his legs on a couch or on the floor — and as he is subtly competitive, he’s also subtly ✨protective✨
