A Selfish Adventure-9-19-11

I was determined to go somewhere by myself; I have been very apprehensive because everywhere I go I am already the center of attention. I generally do not like going places by myself in America let alone in a foreign land. My colleagues have all ventured off by themselves whether it was for a jog or a quick trip to the grocery store. I wanted to be able to do the same thing. I want to feel like I can go somewhere by myself without worrying about my safety. (Kazakhstan is pretty safe) So 9-19-11 I just did it! I took the 40 bus to the Ramstore and bought some cheese, water, and most importantly Francesco Rinaldi pasta sauce. There is a Ramstore in walking distance but I wanted to go the one on the 40 bus route. It was bigger and in a less populated location for an easy end and out. I am happy with my decision. This was a better Ramstore and take the bus by myself filled me with a sense on independence. I know it doesn’t sound like a big deal but it is to me. Being autonomous in a foreign land is imperative. This extra sense of comfort makes this place more like my home especially since I have at least 9 months left. (Or more)
