Lil mare they called Firebrand 💥
HEY! Are you interested in riding ranch broncs? Are you interested in riding ranch broncs in a gay rodeo?
The Crossroads of the West Regional Rodeo in Ogden, UT will be offering ranch broncs this June. This stock is amateur friendly, and this is a great rodeo for newcomers to attend!
I have gear available to loan if you want to try your hand at broncs, and plan to run a mini school to show first timers the ropes before they ride their first bronc in a rodeo. I did this last year, and had a great turnout of folks that wanted to ride! Gear is available on a first come, first serve basis, and I’ll need a heads up if you plan to borrow.
It’s $35 per ride, and you have to compete both Saturday and Sunday to be eligible to win a buckle. You have to be a current member of an International Gay Rodeo Association(IGRA) chapter in order to compete. Memberships are $20-40.
You can find your local association here:
The International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) exists to promote Western lifestyle and rodeo sports within the LGBTQ+ community while suppor
You must pre-register by June 12th in order to compete in ranch broncs, and you can sign up here:

Got any questions? Shoot me a DM, I’m always happy to answer and help folks interested get their start! Let’s make this gay rodeo one to remember
Rode freehanded for the first time! Whole different feel to holding a rope or nightlatch, but I really like it

Felt pretty damn cool with this ride
Ranch broncs are at risk of being removed from the International Gay Rodeo Association. As it stands currently, the amount of interest the event has received doesn’t offset the cost of the event.
While this issue is understandable, this event is currently optional within the association and rodeos are not required to have it.
Through market research, talking with people, and being involved in ranch bronc spaces outside of gay rodeo, I firmly believe the interest is there. Rather than a lack of interest, it’s a lack of accessibility. Other events in IGRA offer schools or other competitors to lean on for support and advice, as well as the ability to borrow gear if needed. This allows for someone who has never had the opportunity to compete an accessible step into the sport.
Ranch bronc has none of these benefits, thus creating a much higher requirement for entry. It’s a multi-faceted issue that will take time to rectify, and will take interested competitors competing.
While I know I can’t solve every issue at this point in time, I’d like to increase the access to compete in the Utah rodeo at the end of June as much as I can.
I have an open offer to anyone interested to borrow my gear, and answer any and all questions new competitors may have. My DMs on all platforms are open, and no one is bothering me if they have a question.
Alongside this offer, I’d like to crowdfund a sponsorship for new competitors to help them get started. This is where you come in, and how you can help preserve ranch broncs in the International Gay Rodeo Association.
What I’d like to do is crowdfund money to sponsor anyone who is a first time competitor in the IGRA, and/or ranch bronc.
All these funds will go to new competitors. Should there be money left over, it will be donated to The Trevor Project.
