💙💙💙💙💙 [Tex screaming into the void]
Just me vibing with our ships everyday and night! I love them all so much. I think you know this with how often I come to you like "So, I was thinking about X..."
“Ding dong! Okay, brilliant.” James X to Emily Prime
Emily can’t help the bubble of laughter that erupts from her. It’s so stupid and yet she clutches at her sides and tears well in her eyes. It’s not even that funny, a part of her chastises, but she can’t help herself.
“Oh my God!” She manages between wheezing breaths “Is that what you think I sound like?”
She continues to giggle for a full minute longer before she finally forced herself into hiccuping silence. A stupid grin is still plastered firmly to her face and she finds herself biting her lip to ensure she doesn’t lose herself to another round of giggling.

Emily’s teeth chattered wildly. The rain has soaked through her clothes to her skin. She had thought perhaps that she wouldn’t need a rain coat but she had been an idiot.
Prepare for the worst, expect the best.
Emily can only blink owlishly at the teenager at the door. God, he looked no older than her! His eyes were like liquid gold, a colour she’d never seen before but it captivated her and made more words temporarily disappear. He pressed his fingers to his head and in that brief moment she was paralysed in fear. Had she gotten the wrong place?
Run! Run!
Mutants were not liked. Better to make her excuses and beat a hasty retreat. Her twin hearts were hammering a frantic beat in her chest. She chanced a look back up the long driveway and thought maybe if she made it to the trees she could try blinking again.
Then he spoke and the relief that flooded through her was almost enough to warm her back up again.
“Th-Thank you.”
Emily shuffled awkwardly past him and inside, careful to try and avoid brushing him and soaking him too. She was well aware that she would probably leave several puddles in her wake but that was beyond helping at this point. As long as she was in the right place and not outside in the cold, she was happy.
“‘M E-Emily.” She introduced herself, holding a hand out then retracting it again “C-Clearwater.”

"Even though...I'm not one of you. I don't know what I am. I'm not even human!"
Emily couldn't stop the small sob. James was too good, too kind. Even now, finding out that the person he'd grown close to, the person he considered his friend, she'd been an imposter this whole time. Granted, even she didn't realise the truth but did that make it better or worse? She liked to believe better because at least that meant she'd not been actively lying to him and everyone else in Westchester since the moment she'd arrived.
But she couldn't stay here now. This was a sanctuary for mutants and she was no mutant. How had Hank even gotten any of her DNA to test was beyond her.
"I can't stay. Thank you so much, James, but I can't. This isn't where I'm supposed to be. I have to figure out what I am and where I come from but this is your home. Your mum, Logan, Hank, everyone here is your family. I shouldn't have asked you to come with me."
She was scared. She was scared, alone, and reeling from a shock. It was a selfish question and Emily now regretted it.
