not at all!! i know i don’t talk about my survivors much but i’ve got 2 of them

jack sinclair: my canon survivor, romanced maccready, agent with the railroad. she’s a sarcastic ass and she makes jokes at the most inopportune times and usually ends up pissing someone off. she’s honestly not really a bad person, she’s just willing to do some skeevy and shady shit to get what she needs out of people. i mean, she’s definitely a jerk, but there’s something down under all that 

randall deckard: my other survivor, romanced preston, minutemen general. he goes by his last name. deckard ‘deckard’ deckard. never randall. his entire aesthetic is basically heath ledger in brokeback mountain. he’s my gay cowboy son. grew up in a big family of bighorn farmers in the middle of fuck nowhere, kentucky. pre-war he was a journalist for the boston herald. he’s a dry, miserable, emotionally constipated Sad Dad. he’s the local man shouting at clouds

The sunrises are still the same as two hundred years ago. That’s one detail that hasn’t left him, one thing he’s allowed himself to cling on to. It’s an indulgence he still allows himself, waking up early to watch the sunrise with a steaming hot cup of coffee. Maybe it’s silly, and Piper has certainly questioned the practice plenty of times, but he still wakes up every day, five o’clock sharp, piping hot mug and the latest issue of Publick Occurrences in hand.

i’ve been in the middle of typing up a post for like an hour but i kept getting pulled away from the computer to do shit around the house but i FINALLY got to sit down and get some stuff typed up so HERE U GO:

his full name is randall joseph deckard but he always goes by deckard and deckard only. no nicknames allowed

born in kentucky to a family of bighorn famers and moved to boston when he was in his mid-twenties

he’s about as interesting and charismatic as wet cardboard

pre-war he was a journalist for the boston herald, mostly writing editorials and whatever fluff pieces the suits made him push to try to give people some sense of normalcy during war time

his husband’s name was maxwell but deckard always called him max

deckard is a pretty gruff and stoic guy but he always dreamed of having a family so he and max adopted shaun after a few years of marriage

max clipped all his articles and kept them tucked away in a safebox under a loose floorboard in their bedroom. piper finds the box one day when they’re clearing his house in sactuary out and deckard rifles through the box and finds some old yellowing polaroids and wedding photos thrown in with his articles and it’s the first time he lets himself get emotional about everything he lost when he went into that vault

he’s not a bad guy he’s just not very pleasant. he’s prickly and a mean old thing and he always smells like stale coffee and he yells at the kids in sanctuary to get off his lawn

he sells max’s wedding ring for ammo and stims but he never takes his off. he doesn’t take the loss of his husband well but he never shows it he just. boxes everything up and piper, his best friend, is the only person who’s ever been able to get past the walls he puts up around himself

he wakes up at 5 am sharp every morning to make his daily cup of coffee and sit out on his rickety handmade rocking chair on his porch to watch the sunrise
