The cover for #angelofgreenwood by #randipink drew me in the minute I saw it and then I found out it was about the massacre of Black Wall Street in Tulsa in 1921. It is a fictional account, but man, is it powerful not to mention the beautiful poetry and the passages from both Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois that really add to the story. I couldn’t put it down. And those last 80 pages had tears streaming down me face I got so lost in it all. I could smell the burning juniper tree, feel the heat on my skin, and the terror in my bones. I can’t stop thinking about it all. #readthisbook This may be fictional, but it did happen. Hundreds of people died and many more lost everything they had all because of hate. Read it, feel it, and let’s not let the past keep repeating. #booklove #bookstagram #bookgeek #readersofinstagram #bookworm #inkdrinker #readmorebooks #booknerd #read #books #reading #bookish #bibliophile #bookaddict #bookaholic #bookaholicsanonymous #bibliotherapy #racism #blacklivesmatter #blackwallstreet https://www.instagram.com/p/CLxyOYsAqp6/?igshid=w1secwcyry77
This book is about 4 girls who get pregnant underage and what they go through during their pregnancies during the 70′s.
Very well written and I really enjoyed how the four lives were intertwined by the end. It put a lot of perspective that unplanned pregnancies have nothing to do with race, culture or means.
