I know this is probably gonna rub some people the wrong way. But my existence is the bane of many people on this site and I refuse to budge.
Do not trust people who agree with you on everything. Do not do it. I know that sounds easy and simple on paper, but it happens a lot more than you think. And if you find yourself agreeing with everything a person says, you need to actually reflect on yourself as to why.
Being stuck in an echo chamber is a very dangerous spot to be in mentally because you are stunting yourself to never mature or grow as a person. You're just stuck in this lonely space of never having your opinions evolve outside of what you've been told to think.
The reason why it's so lonely is because you either consciously or unconsciously know in the back of your mind that once you say something different, those people won't support or love you anymore because it was never about truly caring about you. It was about making sure you were a yes man to everything they do and say. And that's not what you should want.
A person who never disagrees or challenges your thinking is a person who wants something from you. I don't care if it's as simple as, "They just want you to like them" because even then, they care MORE about how YOU feel about THEM than they are with making sure you are ACTUALLY doing well. They would rather keep you stunted than to actually care about your improvement as a person. If a person like that claims to love you, they're lying. It's one thing to have a bad habit of being nervous to confront things, but it's another to NEVER put the effort into doing that to the point where someone is constantly enabling you into a ditch.
I'm not saying this to judge anyone---I'm saying this out of love and because I have the experience. I've had it happen to me, other people I love, and etc. And this is not even strictly a political thing---it can be for many different aspects.
As a kid, I interacted daily with a large echo chamber where for YEARS other people were telling me what to believe, who to believe, how to believe, etc. And it took a lot longer than I wished it did for me to get out of the brainwashing my peers and state did to me.
If a person is constantly saying 'everything right,' that person is actively pandering to you because they want something from you. Not even joking, if a person is constantly agreeing with everything you say, never has anything to criticize or disagree on you with, is saying everything that you want to hear, etc---that person is not your friend. That person doesn't care about you.
It is not healthy to be surrounded by people who constantly think the exact same thing about every single little tiny detail. That's actually VERY lonely because you're not truly connecting with someone. You're literally just talking to a human shaped mirror.
I know that it is very hard to do, but you have to stop the pre-installed thinking that we've been conditioned to accept and actually learn to think for yourself. I'm not gonna lie and say it's easy, but it's incredibly necessary. You need to learn to get uncomfortable when questioning yourself. It's not gonna feel good at all, but it is absolutely imperative if you want any chance at having a decent life while you're still here.
Actively question why you believe what you believe, why you agree with the things you agree with. It's okay to hear a different opinion and agree. It's okay to hear a different opinion and NOT agree. But what IS not okay for YOU regarding your mental and relationship health is for you to be stuck in an echo chamber where you are never challenged on anything. Trust me, take it from me, I'VE LIVED THIS.
I hate attention, but I don't like being ignored.
Forgot my usual quotes tag list (well i'm not using it a lot) so imma just tag a few ppl: @a-french-coconut, @coffee--spill, @evil-era, @vivaciousmessypixie, @biteygremlinanon, @imightbeafaerie-official-offical
Since Ezra probably dropped out of school when his parents were taken, that means he wouldn’t have had past like. A 2nd grade education.
When he gets on the Ghost, he would not know long division. He probably wouldn’t know anything about history, local or galactic, and would have no concept of basic biology or chemistry. He would not know what the fuck a semicolon is.
I can’t imagine Hera and Kanan would be okay with that once they figured it out, right? They’d have to, like, at least try to give him some education.
Do you think they installed a homeschooling program on Chopper? Do you think Sabine taught him chemistry with bombs? Did Hera teach him geometry while showing him how to fly? Did Zeb teach him the basics of strategy and political science when planning missions? How did he survive his month at the academy without knowing what a fraction is?
Sometimes I wonder if we've ever been posted to r/FDC or r/SC
Then I remember I really don't care
And also looking at those subreddits is just making myselves feel bad for no reason
So this is your reminder: don't look at FDC/SC
It's 99% kids trying to be edgy who think being an asshole makes them cool <3
