About the lore of the gay fairy boys's world: what are dew blades?
Oh thanks for asking!!
In this yet to be named world, there is two moons. One moon is much like our own, it's cycle representing a month's passage in time.
The second moon, however, cycles much quicker, making full rotations in almost two weeks. This moon has a mysterious magic to it, making it so that every time it's full, it glows golden. Pools of fresh water, rivers, streams, even bowls left outside, reacts to this golden light, causing the surface water to rise in mist and collect on leaves and flowers. Those droplets of collection harden into a tar-like consistency called Dew.
Dew has a strange ability to power things, though most wildlife find it more useful to eat for it's generous nutrition and honey like flavor. Fairies, in particular, have found a way to use the drops of Dew to strengthen armor, swords, shields, tools, etc, and because the Fairies are so small, they don't need a lot of Dew to power these things. Other, bigger creatures, like Humans, Elves, etc need a lot more if they want to use it's abilities, so to bigger species it's not as useful as their own magical abilities/artifacts they may have, to most it's nothing more than a cool thing to watch happen, and a tasty treat.
Most Fairies have jobs related to collecting Dew every time it rises, having to practically race birds and dear before they eat it. Kailu, being on his own and having a broken wing, has to predict the moons cycle on his own and camp out near lakes during the night to try and gather his own before other Fairies arrive.
Kailu himself has a Dew Blade, because the magical strength it has aids him in fighting bigger creatures with tougher skin and fairies with enhanced Dew Armor that might be an enemy for him.
This is partly inspired by Dust in the Disney Fairies books and Stormlight Archive Shardblades, though it's not exactly the same for either. :3
