Your horses wouldn't despawn if you name them with a name tag. I just learned that a couple weeks ago!

Normally I do to prevent that, but it seems like it was a server issue because several named things despawned and a few villages had all the villagers up and vanish (it’s on peaceful rn, so no monsters killed them).
