(still Day 9)
6PMish:
... so one of our radiator hoses broke its coupling while the oil was being changed. Poor fella doing the inspection got a face full of coolant. Thank heavens, the coupling failed in the shop rather than on the road; don't think we would have survived suce a failure elsewhere. That said, we figured we'd better make a beeline for home, because we don't know how long the bandage the autoshop gave us for that broken coupling is going to last. We've been checking the engine every time we stop to make sure that darned hose doesn't come loose again.
I drove us through most of Nebraska, and now we're crossing into Wyoming. We're hoping to reach Cheyenne by nightfall. It was bright and sunny all afternoon, and now that Pa's at the wheel again, it's clouds and threatening to wind and rain again. What mercy.
Gonna take a snooze, then maybe work a little more on that campaign prototype.
Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts, loved ones.
9PMish: Woke up with ideas. Gotta write them down. No peeking, loves.

Day 10
8AMish: Up at the break of dawn. That was two hours ago... ish. We're at the edges of Wyoming and about to break into Idaho. Wee bit grumpy, had a bit of a rough night sleeping (mostly because interruptus and being forced to move the moment I settle in. Argh.)
On the road again, loves. We're looking for an actual wi-fi spot. Last w-ifi spot was sketchy, and the irony was that it was in the middle of a developed township.
I'm just happy to see mountains again.
Also... Utah? I guess we're just passing through the panhandle.
Keep us in your thoughts, loves
11AMish: Just woke up. We're just now leaving Lake Bonnevile in Idaho. We're so close to Oregon, we can smell it on the wind. Turns out we only stopped because Ma lost a flip-flop. I figure she's found it and we're moving on to find a rest area with wifi.
Can't help but feel wistful. Just thinking back through the trip and what was gained and lost along the way. It is as they say: the road can change a person, folks. I wonder how well these changes stick when we finally return to our mundane. ... and frankly, I'd like them to stick, loved ones. Some old bonds managed to crack somewhere between Atlanta and here. Only time will tell if they can finally be shaken completely.
1 ... PMish?: The timezones threw me for a loop. Anyways, we're 80 miles from Boise. Spent most of the time sitting, meditating, and playing solitaire. Frankly, I don't know if I'm gassy or if something crawled into my gut. I'm hoping it's the former and not the latter.
Just now stopping at a rest stop. Lunch, likely. I'll check in later, loves.
9PMish: Emigrant Springs, Oregon. Hello again. It feels so long. We're just a three and a half hour drive from home. We're all excited. Looking forward to seeing our pets and loved ones again. ... and maybe pass out in our beds. We'll worry about our luggage in the morning. Right now, all that matters is that we're safely in our homes.
Once again, "Miles to Go" playing in my ears. I'll see you soon, my loved ones.
Day 11
4AM: Got home a few hours ago. I couldn't sleep. Just enjoying being home and settling back into the mundane.
8AM: Okay. Fell asleep trying to post, woke up with a rake through my window. Hehe. Back to life, folks!
10AM: Finally getting a chance to post. With guests coming tomorrow and someone in my family getting hitched over the weekend, I'm going to be really busy again. Yep, back to normal... if normal were a thing. As they say, 'The world moves on without you.' and I don't mind. I can't wait to get a chance to catch up with you happy lot, and pick up on what I've missed over the past couple weeks.
... and maybe I'll do this blogging thing again sometime.
Until then, have fun, be safe, stay awesome, and love always, my beloved pride. <3
