Range Bag Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose the Right One for Your Setup
Not all range bags are built the same, and the right one depends entirely on how you shoot....
How to Organize a Range Bag: A Practical System That Works
A sloppy range bag will waste your time, bury critical gear, and turn a simple training session into a gear hunt. If you want to know how to organize a range bag, start by thinking like you are building a loadout, not stuffing a duffel. Every item needs a job, a location, and a reason to stay in the bag.
The goal is simple. You should be able to open your bag, find what you need fast, and get on…
Soft Rifle Case with Storage Pockets: A Buyer's Guide
A rushed range day exposes bad gear fast. When your mags are loose, your ear pro is buried, and your rifle case fights you at the tailgate, you lose time before the first round is even chambered. A soft rifle case with storage pockets fixes that problem by keeping your rifle protected and your support gear staged where it belongs.
For most shooters, that setup makes more sense than hauling a…
The Best Rifle Case for Range Trips: What Actually Matters
A bad rifle case shows its weakness in the parking lot. Straps twist, zippers bind, mags spill loose, and suddenly a simple range day turns into gear management. If you are trying to find the best rifle case for range trips, the right answer goes beyond just fitting your rifle. It is about protecting the gun, organizing the loadout, and moving from truck to bench without wasted motion.
Range use…
Today we’re going to be discussing a range bag that I’ve been using exclusively for the better part of the past one and half years. This particular range bag is a newer version that replaced my old-school Lynx Defense pistol range bag in Coyote/FDE. First off I’ve owned a number of different range bags over the years from companies like Bulldog and others I can’t even remember by name, but once I started using Lynx Defense range bags, those others were given away. All of Lynx Defense bags are made here in the US.
Compared to my old Coyote FDE classic pistol range bag, the concord has a number of things going for it right out the gate. It is a tad. Bit larger overall in size. Seems like an almost endless amount of pockets when compared to my older range bag. I’ve still not filled all the available space. The other thing that immediately stands out other than me is how much more solid the concord appears to the older material used in my classic range bag. It must be due to the use of more robust 1000D Cordura fabric that makes it stand out more on it’s own when compared to the other pistol range bag. The Concord is available in a number of solid colors like black, tan and OD Green, but also has a custom option available in various camouflage patterns. In my case, I’m running a Multicam black pattern which happens to be one of my all-time favorite camo patterns for my range bags and other rifle bags etc…
Inside of the Concord range bag, there’s some new magic that the outgoing range bag didn’t have. The main items is the ability to change around the dividers to suite your particular needs. There’s also optional dividers available to better customize it. The inside of the bag has a 360 degree loop panel so you can orientate the divers how ever you choose to do so. This range bag is peak versatility if I ever saw it…nothing else even comes close! Many of the pockets also include drawstring type of pouches within the particular pouch. This is super handy for keeping small items together. These can also be used as a dump pouch for loose ammo if desired.
On the outside of the Concord range bag you have exactly what you’d expect from high quality range bag. There’s a 2-sided carry handle that can attach together via a wrap around grip stitched with velcro. In addition to the carry handle there’s a generously padded carrying strap that attaches on either end via a quality buckle system. I also use these attachment points to attach my ear pro pouch from Lynx Defense. The one thing that I do truly miss that my old range bag had was the fold out padding that I could use to set my pistols on while at the range. There was a hidden zipper towards the base of the bag that when opened, revealed this pad. Maybe it makes a comeback down the road?
So if you’re looking for a new range bag or a quality replacement for your old range bag, the Lynx Defense Concord deserves a hard look. It has many features that other bags don’t have and the versatility to meet any need you might have in a range bag and then some.

So I am a sucker for many things in life. Love a good whiskey & cigar. Absolutely love hunting & fishing. Spend many days building and perfecting firearms. But I’m truly a sucker for almost anything in camouflage. Camouflage tells a story over time of nations and their commitment to trying to protect or hide their soldiers from the opposing side. Camouflage such as M81 is one of those camouflage patterns that many folk my age grew up with. Early on in my childhood I remember dreaming of joining the military and M81 woodland as it’s called was the U.S. military camouflage pattern of choice from 1981 until the early 2000’s. There were some other patterns around those times, but nothing truly hits an 80’s boy in the feels like M81 Woodland.
Not too long ago I started an M16 Dissipator clone build which is essentially a 20” M16 cut down to a 16” barrel. Using surplus M16 furniture including the old triangle hand guards, A1 grip and stock I was trying to keep it as real as possible and bring back those 70’ and 80’s vibe. This particular build needed something special to go along with it. So I reached out to my favorite rifle and pistol case manufacturer right here in North Carolina and ordered one of their Bronx rifle cases in a custom M81 woodland camouflage pattern.
Once this case arrived, I was in love! It fits the size of the 16” barreled Dissipator build absolutely perfectly. The 3 weapon retention straps included do a great job of holding the rifle in place during transport. I do run one of my Rugged Suppressors Razor 5.56 cans on this build and Lynx defense has a really cool suppressor pouch called their “Hush” pouch that works perfectly in the M81 Bronx rifle case. Made right here in North Carolina from 1000D Cordura fabric, it has a full loop backed interior that gives the end user the ability to customize what accessories are stowed in the bag with the rifle. For my set up I prefer a couple of magazine holders and a HUSH pouch for starters. The Bronx has an outer pocket and 2 internal pockets as well as a carry handle and shoulder strap. A Modular attachment system helps to add additional gear storage if needed.
The idea of the Bronx as well as the rest of this line of rifle, SBR and PCC bags is to be discreet. However with the eye catching M81 Woodland camouflage pattern, all the other 80’s and 90’ kids will be eyeballing that bag and wanting one for themselves. Lynx Defense does offer these bags and others in plainer and less revealing colors, but I definitely prefer a camouflage when I can get it.
So if you’re looking for your next rifle, PCC or SBR range bag or carrying case, the Bronx and associated line is a hard hitter that oozes quality and should be checked out. And if you want something extra special, get the M81 Woodland option like I did.
