@rangerelizabeth rec: Gale surprises John on his birthday by wearing lingerie—featuring an anxious mess Gale, and an at first concerned then later very mind-blown John. I think I’ve re-read this at least three times because it lives rent free in my mind. I love the teasing from Gale and John’s friends at the start, the sweet dinner date, all of John’s pet names for Gale, and of course, the strong ending with some wonderfully written smut!

KUDOS, COMMENT, AND BOOKMARK ON ONE FIC -> Break the Ice by @happy-days19: Bucky is a hockey player who has an unfortunate collision with the one and only Ice Prince, the jewel of the figure skating club. He has to try to make amends while dealing with the biggest crush known to mankind. On the way, he learns a little more about himself and the true meaning of family. Skating AU, Clegan, Fluff, Hurt/comfort, Mature.

I've had this bookmarked to read for ages, and I'm so glad I finally had some time to read it! It was such a sweet meet-cute, getting together, hurt/comfort fic (aka my fav genre)! Such a creative setting to put Buck and Bucky in and it’s so well done. Also, the nickname of Ice Price gives Bucky an excuse to call Gale "my prince," which is pretty adorable.

I can't even tell you how long I stared at this art in awe the first time I saw it. It's an absolute masterpiece and just brings even more life to the already vibrant and incredible universe created in this fic. The talent is off the charts!!

If you're looking for some more Benny/ Brady fics, look no further than this artists AO3! This fic was phenomenal - the writing is stunning and the switching timelines is a punch to the gut in the best way. This had me in all of my feelings, I adored it!! Truly can't recommend it enough.

Every chapter of this fic has me in shambles, it's so beautifully written, it's like poetry. The relationships between Gale/Bucky, Gale/Marge, and Marge & Bucky are so emotionally complex and well done. Since I can't just pick the entire fic as my favorite quote, I chose the following because I think I've gone back and reread this reunion hug scene like a million times: “You never hugged a man?” John questions, loud enough that Gale seriously considers crouching down to rest his head against John’s chest. “You never hugged your best friend when you find out they’re alive for the first time in fucking months, you ugly Nazi fuck?” Seriously, go read this (and then go read it's companion Christmas fic too, When Skies Are Gray)!

Day 16 Fic Rec 2

You Make Me Come Alive by Happy_Days19 @happy-days19 [Mature - AU, Angst, Fluff, Getting together, Hurt/Comfort, College AU, Modern day - Gale "Buck" Cleven/John "Bucky" Egan - Complet 12/12 - 35,6k]

John was happy, he knew it. He was attending a great college, his friends were amazing, and he had a bright future ahead of him. He thought his junior year was going to be just another year of college, but when he meets someone who brightens up his life in ways he had never expected, he has to admit that life just got a whole lot more exciting. Or, a transfer student captures John’s attention in a way he never thought possible, and they become close over the months, navigating a whole spectrum of emotions and challenges.

@rangerelizabeth rec: This College AU features a somewhat shy, closed off, stressed about school Gale, and an outgoing, determined to break his shell John. The dynamic that the author develops between the two of them is beyond sweet, and I love the inclusion of the other characters as well. Chapters 7 and 8 also provide some lovely Christmas scenes that are perfect for the season!

And so the weed of sorrow springs at the four cross ways by Thetrystingtree @alienoresimagines [Teen and up - Angst, Canon, Hurt/Comfort, Canon divergence, Outsider POV - Gale "Buck" Cleven/John "Bucky" Egan - Complet 1/1 - 6,5k]

Neil and his wife never had children, and yet, he realizes as he watches Bucky’s bottom lip tremble and feels the lump in his throat growing in answer, he’s already familiar with the grief of a father. Still reeling from losing Buck on the Bremen mission, Chick tries his hardest to keep his boys together, especially Bucky. But an overheard confession that could get the other man sent home with a blue ticket forces him to make a decision that could change the outcome of the Münster mission and drastically change Buck and Bucky's fate.

@rangerelizabeth rec: This is a wonderfully written Harding POV oneshot set after Gale gets shot down, allowing us to see Gale and John’s relationship from a new perspective. Featuring a drunken, distressed John talking to Gale—though only there as a figment of his imagination—and Harding going into protective father figure mode when he overhears John’s words. This oneshot will simultaneously break your heart and stitch it back together as Harding puts aside protocol and the idea of what is truly “right or wrong” to comfort John in his grief.
