The irony of old white men claiming that the increasing use of Te Reo is "shoving it down their throats" after what colonialism did to this country and its people.
They aren't intentionally malicious, but they are ignorant, unwilling to listen or learn or admit fault, and harbour racist attitudes. Sure, that's just how it was here, and what they've been exposed to, but that doesn't excuse it.
Anyway I now have magnets with Te Reo greetings on the fridge at work.

Like, I knew you didn’t respect me, but you really think I am stupid enough not to notice you actively removing my manager, who was an actual topic in the discussion, from an email trail? That I don’t know you intentionally went and made someone change their mind because rather than going “hey cool, one less thing to worry about or pay for” you go “Oh shit thats MY TerRITorY” ? The worst thing, is not how condescending you are, that stings but I know why you act that way, no, the worst thing is that you seem to really think that I am as petty as you, you think that when I am trying to be professional and cooperative, to work towards supporting each other, that I am instead trying to take some level of control or ownership away from you. I actually care about my people, about celebrating their achievements and about making things better for them. You are only making this more painful for everyone. Grow the fuck up.
