ooh I agree about equilibrium! I think it was one of the first movies where I was slack jawed with cinematography and choreography of the action scenes. do u feel the same about ragnarok that while the comedic elements of it where amusing and fun, it took away from what it was? I liked it as an entertainment piece but I think it sacrificed a lot of characterization. /unpopular opinion
Yes, the action choreography. Just wow. So many movies afterwards used similar style. I feel it would do better nowadays.
Not sure, if we have the same reasons. Mine are a bit similar, but not sure if they are the same. For me Ragnarok just amplified problems Marvel always has, in that horrible things are often not given enough weight. Looking at the facts Ragnarok is the most gruesome and horrible of all Marvel movies until Infinity War. A whole nation got slaughtered and the remaining refugees lost their home, Thor lost his father, lost his friends, got his whole family history re-shaped, lost his eye and hammer, etc. Yet none of that matters, because “Hey, it’s a comic movie. Let’s have a joke and fun.” To me it did matter though, because I loved Asgard, I loved the complicated family, I loved the warriors three. That was taken away and the response to being upset is basically “Don’t whine. Have a joke about satan’s butthole.” If you sacrifice everything but ignore it, what’s the reason to even do it in the first place? It could be a fun movie on Sakaar. The whole Asgardian storyline rubbs me the wrong way in how it was handled in the movie. /unpopular opinion
