2025 Reading Review

With a goal of reading 60 books I managed to blow by that with 148 read. I really can't say what I did different over last year's 63 books read. I did do a few more audiobooks and immersion read for the first time this year. When I immersion read I do tend to finish faster.

I had 4 rereads this year with The OG Thrawn Trilogy and a full cast audiobook version of Moon Called, the first book in the Mercy Thompson series.

I had only 1 5 star read which was Recursion by Blake Crouch. I'm very stingy with my 5 stars and probably could have given some of my 4.5 stars (7 of them) that bump up to 5. My rereads are usually already 5 stars thus why I reread them.

My biggest surprise of the year was the Dungeon Crawler Carl Series. It has high reviews but I wasn't sure I was going to like a LitRPG book. Not only did I love it but I bought the first two books for my son to read. I read the series myself on a free trail of Kindle Unlimited so for me to actually buy a book is huge. All 148 were Libby or my free trial of KU.

I DNF'd 10 books and that number should really be higher but I have a problem of being a completionist. I even read some series that I should have stopped before getting to the end but I had to complete them to say I read it and can now be judgy about them.

I only have a few books that I'm looking forward to in 2026. One being book 8 of Dungeon Crawler Carl and book 2 of the Knight and the Moth. Otherwise I'll take my TBR one book at a time and see how it goes. My 2026 goal is 100 books. I don't want to be too ambitious as I have some big house projects next year.

Yesterday, I linked to Rap-Up & their baffling perception of Kehlani being underwater at the beginning of the Faking It mv. I don’t know how they imagined that saw this. A blue filter doesn’t automatically mean water especially when there is snow falling in the background. Their article is unattributed & dated 10.24.17. 

Now this morning, I find Ebony lifted Rap-Up’s tripped-out opinion word-for-word!  Bianca Garwood is credited as the writer & it’s dated 10.25.17. I dunno maybe Bianca works for both & I should shrug it off. But I built a very high opinion of Ebony over the decades & it’s disturbing to see them fail so badly. Also, I might be a crank but I feel a video reviewer ought to watch it instead of viewing from the corner of her eye while doing something else.
