Just realise i spelt Flauner instead of Flaneur in my RAP2 opps..
Flauner-Lost in the city to experience it, to discover meaning.
The unnoticed everyday, the outside of the normal. This is what the Flauner is experiencing. Stepping back and viewing from afar to see the city in a new way. To experience it differently from how they may on a normal day where there is time pressure or to much on the mind.
The Flauner is shown as a male, no menas of income, white middle class, urban, contemporary, stylish and aloof. They spectate and are the silent observer.
The Flauner was described/first talked about by Charles Baudelaire.
I believe that a Flauner can be either a male or female. I dont think a flauner has to be a specific type of person. Anyone can step back and dissolve into the background to become an observer of a scene or street. Anyone can become a critical observer and capture experience as art if they make themselves do so. If you put the conscious effort into becomeing a flauner and putting it into practice then realistically anyone can be a flauner. Wether you be rich and powerful or live on the street, experiencing and observing can be done from afar as long as you have put yourself into that frame of mind.
Rules have been placed into a city from governance rules and the path in which you should take. A flauner takes a different path, the path less travelled. They are apart of the city while also being an individual, the city leads them.
"difference between losing onesself and not finding ones way?" There is an awakening of the unconsious, looking from a different angle.
