god i hate to do this when so many other people are in need too, but we need help SO badly right now.

i had to quit my last job because im immunocompromised and i became severely ill after my coworkers got me sick twice in one month. im looking for a new job but work from home jobs are extremely competitive and it's hard to find an in-person job that i can perform despite my disabilities.

my fiancee and i saved enough to barely cover this month's bills, but there was recently a massive power outage due to a storm in our state and all our groceries went bad before they got the power turned back on. we tried to save what we could because it's all we had, but it gave me food poisoning which im still recovering from and so now we're officially out of food. i also have had to go to the ER for an unrelated issue (my severe asthma) and can't afford the short-term medication they prescribed me there, or the asthma meds that will prevent me from having to go to the ER again.

so we really, really need money to cover food & medications for this month. $400 is our starting goal for now. please spread even if u can't donate 😭💕 and please don't feel like u have to donate if you're struggling with poverty as well

this episode was SO good, oh my god! im kind of glad i couldn't listen to ep 37 right away, because it was nice having it so fresh in my mind going into this one. the scale of these episodes is so different - the churning gears of empire and the revolutionaries who give their lives to throw even the smallest wrench in it, vs. a man coming back to his childhood home and having to reckon with his deadbeat dad's dementia - and yet they have a similar level of emotional impact.

the silt verses is constantly fluctuating between addressing different conflicts on entirely different scales. wars, revolutions, political drama, capitalist exploitation, familial dysfunction, and other interpersonal relationships are all given about the same amount of time and attention. it would be so easy to fuck up, but instead it works, because every personal conflict ties back into political conflict and vice versa.

while val wages war, she wrestles with both her personal ethics and her relationship with her mother. faulkner and eddie can't get their father government-funded healthcare or they risk him being sacrificed to that same war. so on and so forth, infinitely.

it fleshes out the world as so huge yet interconnected. all the complex details of worldbuilding are grounded in emotion and humanity. at every turn as it creates this world, the silt verses asks: what is it really like to live in it? and every character presents different answers to that question.

oh my god. so after the month and a half that it took my old job (at a certain grocery store chain that starts with a k) to process that my paycheck is indeed, missing, it’s going to take them another 2-3 weeks to process the affidavit i signed to prove my identity so they can re-send it.

so that leaves me and my gf, again, unable to pay rent! my gf’s check will cover most of it, but we’re approximately $245 short. i’m still searching every day for a new job but i’m having no luck so far and even if i get one the money won’t come soon enough.

at this point, my gf and i have had to dip into our savings for rent just to eat and afford basic medications, so now we need $400 by the 15th to not be homeless! if it matters to anyone, we are respectively a white, autistic, disabled transmasc DID system and a Black, autistic, disabled genderqueer woman... we live in the us south and are struggling to find jobs because of the everyday discrimination we face!

if anyones been wondering what ive been doing while being so offline, ive spent the last few months trying to get my shit together and failing and succeeding and coping by getting really obsessed with star trek for the first time since i was a kid :-)

so today is my birthday and im spending it working at this shitty fastfood job... I'll celebrate later if i have the energy but who knows because ive been working so hard just to stay afloat.

i'm mainly saving to take my cat to the vet, get a new car so i can finally escape the transphobic southern military city where i live, and maybe even fix my teeth (painful, been trying and failing to fix them for about 3 years now, and about 4x as expensive as that new car tbh). probably not but i can hope lol...

so it’s december and we’ve received not a single donation. i get everybody’s desperate, but also like... we’re out of options at this point. my girlfriend is about to go beg our landlord to see how late we can pay rent without being evicted, but honestly? it doesn’t really matter how late we can extend it, because neither of us are getting paid until the 31st.

we’ve managed to scrounge together a bit of money, but we’re still short $400 for rent. not even including water or electricity... but i’d rather be stuck without water or heating than be fucking homeless, so $400 is all we’re asking for right now.

please help us. at least spread this. i promise it costs literally nothing for y’all to reblog this... i can’t tell you how fucked we are. both of our physical disabilities have gotten worse and being homeless again would be absolute hell. this time we have no support system, not even from our abusers.
