On January 18, 2015, two graduate students found Turner rapping a woman who was half naked outside a fraternity house around 1 AM. They chased after Turner and held him down until police arrived. After the assault, the victim woke up in the hospital and learned the details of the assault from the press.
On February 2, 2015, Turner pleaded not guilty to five charges. The five charges were “attempted rape”, “rape of an intoxicated person”, “rape of an unconscious person”, “sexual penetration of an intoxicated woman”, and “sexual penetration of an unconscious women.” The bail was set for $150,000.
On October 6, 2015, two of the five charges were dropped. “Rape of an unconscious person.” And “rape of an intoxicated person.”
On March 30th, 2016, Turner was found guilty. His sentencing was scheduled for June 2nd and he faced a max of 10 years in prison. The prosecutors argued for 6 years.
On June 2nd, 2016, Turner was sentenced to 6 months in county jail, and 3 years probation. Turner must now register as a known sex offender for the rest of his life. Judge Aaron Persky said “Turner had a clean record prior to the incident, and a harsher punishment would have a "severe impact” on Turner.“
