She cried, a slew of emotions overtaking her. Soon she let him go, tears streaming down her face, and she slapped him as hard as she could. “Don't you EVER do that to me again!"

Jack stiffened when Rapunzel opened the door, unsure what kind of welcome was coming. “Hey there, Blondie. Sup?” he croaked out weakly. When she pulled him in, it took a second before Jack returned the hug wholeheartedly.
After she released and slapped him, he rubbed his cheek where Rapunzel had hit him, wiping away the tears also streaming down his face. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, “And I know that sorry isn’t enough. You had every right to slap me, and I don’t blame you. I just-” He took a deep breath. “I had no choice. I had to protect you. All of you. And it was just so-” Jack choked up on his emotions, trying to crack a smile through his tears. “It’s just so good to be back,” he whispered, drying his eyes again.
